SDU Center for Large Structure Production (LSP), part of theMaersk Mc-Kinney Moller Institute(MMMI) atUniversity of Southern Denmark (SDU), invites applications with a technical background within machinery, electrician or similar, to maintain, configure, operate and support the LSP team in making our multi-purpose robotic systems function and ready for our research and development activities. The 2-year position will be vacant from 1 February 2026, or as soon as possible thereafter. Main work location is Odense/Denmark at SDU location in Odense Havn (Odense Port), with a requirement of physical attendance.

Work environment

The candidate(s)will be part of SDU Center for Large Structure Production (LSP). LSP’s central ambition is to provide a physical “go-to” lab for companies in the sectors construction, maritime, and energy to carry out research, development, and testing of novel solutions in the production of large structures, such as buildings, ships and offshore platforms.In this context, the candidate is expected to work closely with our academic and industrial partners on application-oriented methods and technologies.

LSP is closely working together the companies atOdense Havnand similar partners making large structures across Denmark and Europe. LSP is integrated with theOdense Robotics Clusterinvolving startups and established companies in robotics. We are a team of currently about 20 researchers, engineers and PhD students, specialized in robot solutions involving modelling, simulation, and control of advanced robot technologies (systems and services) for application-oriented industrial applications.

Our group is involved in a variety of national and European projects and features a strong network of academic and industrial partners. We solve challenging research problems derived from real-life challenges by implementing novel robot solutions. We value teamwork, professional diligence, enthusiasm for robotics, and the drive to adopt new skills and extended responsibilities. We offer an open, international team, with flexible work organization and support for individual development, including training in the specialized skills that are needed to maintain and develop our equipment.

Job description

We are seeking a skilled technician to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair equipment, ensuring smooth daily operations and high standards of efficiency, safety, quality and keeping track on reoccurring inspections of equipment.Responsibilities include installations, preventive maintenance, and resolving technical issues, with accurate documentation and compliance with company guidelines.

Candidates should have technical education or experience in mechanics, electronics, or related fields, with strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and in a team. Good English and Danish communication skills are preferred.

On the technical level, we are seeking candidates for the following tasks:

  • Mechanical maintenance of equipment (robots, gantry, lifting equipment and more)
  • Organizing preventive maintenance tasks and time scheduling according to research tasks
  • Updating electrical cabinets configuration (mounting and wiring) and preparation of documentation
  • Basic PLC programming and code maintenance (Beckhoff knowledge is a plus)
  • Handling shipments and deliveries (forklift competence and driving certificate is a plus)
  • Setting up test environments in collaboration with the research staff (mechanical assembly of robot tools such as grippers and sensors)
