As a Staff Product Manager at Spare, you’ll be driving not just products but company-level opportunities for our business to thrive. As the owner of a cross-cutting product domain and a key partner to multiple product squads, you'll play a pivotal role in creating new revenue streams, scaling existing ones, and accelerating the pace of our growth.

This role requires travel to the United States, and therefore successful candidates are required to have appropriate travel documents to be able to do this. Please expect to travel to the United States up to 25% of the time. (Approx once a month)

This role follows a hybrid schedule. We require team members to be in the office on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, with the option to work remotely on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Our office is located in downtown Vancouver, and we believe this balance fosters strong collaboration while supporting flexibility.

About this role✨

As a Staff Product Manager, you will:

  • Own Product:

    • Take full ownership of a cross-cutting product domain, overseeing its multi-squad strategy, development, and lifecycle management across multiple teams.
  • Drive Product Vision:

    • Define and communicate a clear, long-term product vision, multi-year strategy, and objectives for your domain, connecting them to company-level priorities.
  • Collaborate Cross-functionally:

    • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including multiple engineering squads, design, marketing, sales, and partner success, to align product development with business objectives.
  • Drive Market Insights and Customer Needs:

    • Analyze data, conduct customer research, and engage with customer-facing teams and integration partners to identify market trends, customer needs, and opportunities that shape Spare's broader product direction.
  • Inform Product Solutions:

    • Work collaboratively with your teams to generate innovative product solutions, bringing your unique product vision and systems thinking to address complex customer feedback and unmet needs.
  • Evangelize the Product:

    • Act as an evangelist for your product domain both internally and externally, creating enthusiasm and excitement for future developments and representing Spare in senior customer and industry conversations.
  • Chart the Product Roadmap and Manage Resources:

    • Be responsible for domain-level product roadmaps, product strategy, resource allocation, and release schedules across multiple squads and initiatives.
  • Create Stakeholder Alignment:

    • Bridge the gap between internal and external stakeholders — including senior leadership — to define product requirements, drive decisions, and ensure alignment on tradeoffs, priorities, and outcomes.
  • Multiply Impact:

    • Mentor and up-level other Product Managers, sharing frameworks, feedback, and best practices that raise the bar for product management at Spare.

About You ✨

You have...

  • Product Management Experience:

    • 5-8+ years managing technical software products from inception to launch and iteration.

    • Experience operating at a senior/principal/staff scope with complex, cross-team initiatives.

    • Proven experience working closely with enterprise customers and senior stakeholders, building relationships with key clients, and driving customer-centric product decisions that deliver meaningful business outcomes.

  • User Experience Excellence:

    • Proven experience in shipping products with exceptional user experiences at scale, across multiple surfaces or workflows.

    • Experience taking new products from concept to market, getting your first customers, scaling successful products, and evolving complex, existing products.

  • Stakeholder Relationship Building:

    • The ability to build strong relationships and influence internal stakeholders across different functional areas, including growth, engineering, marketing & design, and operations, often without formal authority.
  • Innovative Thinking:

    • Demonstrated capacity for thinking outside the box, potentially including entrepreneurial experience, with a track record of turning ambiguous problem spaces into clear strategies.
  • Problem-Solving Skills:

    • Ability to identify root causes of user and operational frustration in complex systems and go the extra mile to ensure product, customer, and team success.
  • Technical background:

    • With a strong understanding of software engineering (SWE), enabling effective collaboration with engineering teams and the ability to understand technical tradeoffs.

Nice to have:

  • A degree in computer science, mathematics, a science-related field, or software engineering.

  • Entrepreneurial background.

  • Experience mentoring or leading other Product Managers.

  • Passion for or experience working in Transit/Mobility.

  • Hands-on experience building and scaling AI products.
