About Rekise Marine
Rekise Marine is building autonomous ships and submarines that operate in the world's most hostile environments. We're executing India's flagship autonomous submarine project — the Jalkapi XLAUV — on order from the Indian Navy. This is an unmanned submarine weighing over 20 tons that can travel 5,000+ kilometers autonomously and operate in the ocean for 30+ days at a time. We're creating some of the largest autonomous robots in the world, machines with direct impact on the global economy and national security. While autonomous cars in India may still be a dream, autonomous ships and submarines are already a reality, and it is possible to build for the world from India.
The Role:
We're seeking a Senior Robotics Engineer to build the simulation and digital twin infrastructure for our autonomous submarine program. You'll create high-fidelity virtual environments where we can test, validate, and accelerate the development of autonomy algorithms before they ever touch the ocean. From modeling hydrodynamics and sensor physics to building full-vehicle digital twins, your work will be the foundation that enables rapid iteration on a platform where real-world testing costs millions and takes months to plan.
Key Responsibilities:
●Marine Environment Simulation: Develop high-fidelity marine environment simulations using NVIDIA Isaac (Preferred), Unreal Engine, Unity,or custom engines. Model realistic ocean conditions including currents, waves, turbidity, thermoclines, and acoustic propagation.
●Hydrodynamics & Physics Modeling: Model vehicle hydrodynamics, buoyancy dynamics, thruster interactions, and 6-DOF vehicle behavior under varying sea states. Implement accurate physics-based models for drag, lift, added mass, and Coriolis effects.
●Sensor Simulation: Create realistic sensor models for DVL, sonar (side-scan, forward-looking, multibeam), cameras, LiDAR, IMU, and acoustic modems. Simulate sensor noise, degradation, multipath effects, and environmental interference.
●Digital Twin Development: Build comprehensive digital twins for AUVs/ASVs that mirror real-time vehicle state, enabling parallel testing of autonomy, perception, and navigation algorithms. Implement data pipelines for synchronizing digital twin state with field trial data.
●Simulation Infrastructure & Scalability: Optimize simulation for high-fidelity testing while maintaining real-time or faster-than-real-time performance. Build scalable infrastructure for parallel simulation runs, Monte Carlo testing, and automated regression testing of autonomy stacks.
●Integration & Validation: Integrate simulation environments with ROS2-based autonomy stacks for seamless software-in-the-loop (SIL) and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing. Develop validation frameworks that correlate simulation results with real-world performance.
Required Qualifications:
●B.Tech/M.S./Ph.D. in Robotics, Cohttps://app.breezy.hr/app/c/nexthire/positions/new/description#mputer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Game Development, or related field from a recognized institution.
●5+ years of experience in simulation, physics-based modeling, or digital twin development for robotics or game development.
●Proficiency in at least one major simulation/game engine (NVIDIA Isaac (Preferred), Unreal Engine, Unity,or custom engines).
●Strong coding skills in C++ with production-quality software practices.
●Experience with physics-based simulation including rigid body dynamics, fluid dynamics, and sensor modeling.
●Experience with ROS integration into simulation environments.
●Understanding of software-in-the-loop (SIL) and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing methodologies.
●Strong mathematical foundations in physics, linear algebra, and numerical methods.
Preferred Experience
●Experience with marine/underwater simulation or hydrodynamic modeling.
●Background in control systems, validation frameworks, or formal verification for robotic systems.
●Experience with GPU-accelerated simulation or parallel computing frameworks.
●Familiarity with sonar simulation, acoustic modeling, or underwater sensor physics.
●Experience with NVIDIA Omniverse, Isaac Sim, or similar advanced simulation platforms.
●Knowledge of real-time rendering, shader programming, or procedural environment generation.
●Publications or open-source contributions in robotics simulation.
Why Join Rekise Marine
