Senior R&D Group Manager

Based in Cluj Napoca, part of the Test and Measurement group of Emerson , NI/Digilent, as a Senior R&D Group Manager, you will champion organizational process improvements, drive the standardization of project workflows, and build a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability, in addition to leading a hard-working team of engineers and project professionals.

In this role, you will drive technical excellence, improve organizational processes, standardize project execution, and foster a collaborative, inclusive engineering culture.

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

People & Organizational Leadership

• Lead, mentor, and develop a multidisciplinary team of engineers and technical professionals.

• Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, inclusion, safety, and customer focus.

• Support career development, performance management, and team engagement.

  Technical Leadership

• Provide technical leadership and guidance across software, digital, analog, FPGA, and embedded system development.

• Act as a technical partner and escalation point for complex engineering decisions.

• Promote best practices in system architecture, design reviews, and technical documentation.

  Project & Delivery Ownership

• Prioritize projects and manage technical resources across multiple initiatives.

• Oversee project planning, including scope definition, scheduling, resource allocation, and budget considerations.

• Partner with project management to ensure delivery on time, on cost, and to quality expectations.

Who You Are: You are an experienced technical leader who enjoys balancing people leadership, technical mentoring, and execution excellence. You are comfortable operating in a matrix environment, influencing across disciplines, and creating clarity in complex programs.

For This Role, You Will Need:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineering or a related technical field (or equivalent experience).
• 5–7+ years of experience in engineering, product development, or technical project leadership roles.
• Strong understanding of FPGA technology, digital and analog circuit design, and embedded systems.
• Solid knowledge of software design principles and system architecture.
• Demonstrated experience leading and developing engineering teams.

Preferred Qualifications that Set You Apart:

• Background in test and measurement products or instrumentation.
