Amazon Industrial Robotics is seeking an exceptional Senior Manager of Software Development to lead engineering teams building fleet management, platform infrastructure, digital twin, and premium service software that enable advanced robotics operations at scale. This is a ground-floor opportunity to define and deliver software solutions for a strategic robotics initiative.

As a Senior Manager, you will use significant expertise and high judgment to design team structures and strategies to meet long-term business goals in areas where problems and strategies are not yet defined. You'll manage multiple teams building complex distributed systems for fleet coordination, continuous learning, and customer integrations, distilling diverse inputs from stakeholders to set vision and drive decisions. You will be 100% dedicated to your domain with full ownership of roadmap, technical strategy, and execution.

The ideal candidate brings deep expertise building software at scale, managing complex integrations, and working cross-functionally to deliver business-critical systems. You understand AI-native development practices and have proven ability to build high-performing organizations from the ground up. Knowledge of fleet optimization, distributed systems, and multi-robot coordination is highly valued.

Key job responsibilities - Design team structures and strategies to deliver fleet management and platform systems in rapid timelines - Lead software development execution, ensuring teams deliver high-quality systems that meet business goals and operational requirements - Manage multiple teams of managers and engineers, scaling as the program grows - Hire bar-raising talent and grow leaders through coaching and strategic project assignment - Decompose significantly complex problems into straightforward solutions - Establish workflows, SLAs, and mechanisms to ensure teams operate effectively and deliver results - Own relationships with operations teams, technology partners, and deployment customers - Write effective narratives (PRFAQs, 6-pagers) and present to senior leadership - Set standards for operational excellence and process improvement - Champion AI-native development practices enabling significant productivity gains Basic Qualifications: - 10+ years of software development experience - 5+ years managing engineering teams, including managing managers - Experience building large-scale, business-critical software systems successfully delivered to customers - Experience leading technical initiatives with independence in highly ambiguous environments - Experience in stakeholder management across multiple levels - Track record of aligning teams toward coherent strategies and driving customer-focused decisions - Experience writing strategic narratives (PRFAQs, OP1/OP2) and presenting to senior leadership Preferred Qualifications: - 12-15+ years of full software development lifecycle experience including production operations - Experience with fleet management systems, warehouse operations, or distributed coordination systems - Experience with operational software systems and enterprise integration - Experience with AWS services and AI/ML systems in production - Experience with continuous learning pipelines or ML infrastructure - Experience championing AI-native development practices (Kiro, Copilot) - Knowledge of optimization algorithms, operations research, or fleet coordination - Experience with digital twin, simulation, or virtual commissioning - Knowledge of flow optimization and theory of constraints - Experience managing organizations with multiple layers and functions

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
