Job Summary:

Leeward Renewable Energy is currently seeking a SCADA Engineer that will be responsible for designing, developing, maintaining, and troubleshooting SCADA systems that monitor and control renewable industrial processes. The role involves creating HMI/SCADA interfaces, integrating PLCs/RTUs and field equipment, ensuring system reliability and cybersecurity, performing system commissioning, and providing technical support. SCADA Engineers manage system updates, optimize data collection and visualization, maintain documentation, and collaborate with operations, IT, and engineering teams to ensure safe and efficient plant operations.

Essential Functions:

  • Design, configure, and deploy SCADA architectures (hardware, software, networks, and field devices).

  • Develop SCADA graphics, HMI screens, dashboards, and alarm logic.

  • Create PLC–SCADA communication mappings (Modbus, OPC, DNP3, Ethernet/IP, etc.).

  • Implement new features, upgrades, and system enhancements.

  • Install, configure, and maintain SCADA servers, clients, historian databases, and communication networks.

  • Manage user access, backups, automation scripts, and system documentation.

  • Ensure high system uptime and performance.

  • Monitor and troubleshoot SCADA, PPC, RTU, and communication network issues.

  • Provide Level 2/3 technical support to operations and field teams.

  • Perform root-cause analyses and implement corrective actions.

  • Integrate SCADA systems with PLCs, RTUs, sensors, instrumentation, and third-party applications.

  • Lead site commissioning, testing (FAT/SAT), and validation activities.

  • Collaborate with electrical, and IT teams.

  • Implement security hardening, patching, and access control policies.

  • Ensure regulatory compliance for industrial automation systems.

  • Configure and maintain data historians and reporting tools.

  • Optimize data collection, storage, and visualization.

  • Develop and maintain technical documentation: architecture diagrams, I/O lists, network diagrams, and SOPs.

  • Train operators and maintenance teams on SCADA system use and best practices.

Qualifications:

  • 4-Year Bachelors Engineeringor Computer Science Degree

  • Strong computer programming skills

  • Experience in programming languages and the ability to learn in this area

  • Visual Basic, Phyton, C#, SQL, Excelexperience, Ignition, SEL/ORION RTAC.

  • Previousexperience in Wind, Solar or BESS Energy industry considered a plus

  • Strong verbal and written communications

  • High levelof competence of MS Office software programs

  • Familiarity with electronic communication systems (SCADA)considered a plus

  • Problem-solving ability

  • Ability to be self-motivated and work with minimal supervision

  • Ability to multi-task in a complex, dynamic environment

  • Ability tooperatea motor vehicle and possession of a valid driver's license

  • Ability to workcollaborativelywithmultiplesite management teams to ensure the success of projects for the benefit of your internal customers.

Physical Demands:

  • Position will require sitting forlong periodsof time.

  • Occasionally lift 20-pound or more

  • Ability to perform physical requirements including standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, twisting, reaching, and climbing at project locationstoinspect and repair equipment or collect information

  • Ability to work in confined spaces or at great heights for prolonged periods

  • Willingnessand ability to travel at least 20%of time
