Job Purpose:
The Reality Capture Technician will play a vital role in gathering and processing high-quality 3D data to support projects. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in 3D laser scanning, possess a FAA Part 107 Certification for UAV (drone) operations, and be proficient in capturing and processing spatial data. This role requires a detail-oriented individual with a passion for leveraging technology to enhance virtual and physical construction processes.
Essential Functions:
- Operate UAVs to capture aerial data and imagery, ensuring compliance with FAA Part 107 regulations.
- Perform 3D laser scanning of project sites to create accurate point clouds and spatial datasets.
- Process, register, and manage point cloud data for use in Building Information Modeling (BIM) and other virtual construction applications.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and design teams to provide precise, actionable data that supports project requirements and deadlines.
- Conduct site visits to assess project conditions, plan UAV flight paths, and set up 3D scanning equipment.
- Troubleshoot technical issues related to drone operation, laser scanning equipment, and data processing.
- Maintain and manage equipment, including UAVs, 3D laser scanners, and related software.
- Ensure all captured data meets company quality standards and regulatory requirements.

Job Requirements:
- FAA Part 107 Certification for UAV (drone) operations perfered
- Proven experience in 3D laser scanning and point cloud processing.
- Proficiency in data processing software (e.g., Trimble Realworks, Autodesk ReCap, Leica Cyclone, FARO Scene) and familiarity with BIM tools (e.g., Revit, Navisworks).
- Understanding of photogrammetry, surveying principles, and spatial data accuracy.
- Strong attention to detail, with the ability to handle and troubleshoot technical equipment.
- Effective communication skills and a team-oriented approach to projects.
Education and Experience:
- Associates Degree or combination of equivalent education and experience preferred
- Experience with additional reality capture techniques (e.g., photogrammetry, LiDAR).
- Experience or interest in Videography to assist with processing.
- Familiarity with CAD/BIM software and workflows.
Experience working in construction, engineering, or architecture industries
