Job Overview:

The Application Engineer supports the deployment and adoption of industrial robotic solutions by evaluating customer applications and recommending appropriate robotic products. This role emphasizes technical consultation, product selection, and customer support, working closely with Field Sales personnel and providing training to end users and system integrators.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze customer application requirements (e.g., payload, reach, cycle time, environment) to recommend suitable robotic models.
  • Collaborate with Field Sales to support pre-sales activities, including technical presentations, product demos, and feasibility assessments.
  • Provide training and technical guidance to end users and system integrators on robot selection, operation, and basic integration.
  • Assist with application layouts, simulations, and cycle time studies to validate robot suitability.
  • Support customers with product documentation, technical data, and integration best practices.
  • Stay informed on the company’s robotic product portfolio and industry trends to ensure accurate recommendations.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics Engineering (or related field).
  • Familiarity with industrial robots and their specifications (e.g., DENSO, ABB, Yaskawa).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for customer-facing interactions.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and application requirements.
  • Willingness to travel for customer visits, training sessions, and trade shows.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience with robotic simulation tools (e.g., Wincaps III, ROS, RobotStudio).
  • Exposure to manufacturing environments and automation processes.
  • Basic understanding of PLCs, vision systems, and peripheral equipment.

Visual requirements include color, depth perception and field of vision. Physical requirements include standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, talking, hearing and repetitive motions. Position work environment is typically indoors in pleasant, well-lighted area with comfortable temperatures and in a controlled environment where no significant amounts of dust, fumes or odors. Occasionally exposed to a warehouse or production environment with moving mechanical parts and material handling equipment. Temperatures may vary widely dependent on the season. Safety vest and protective shoes must be worn when working in the warehouse or production area. Unavoidable accidents and health hazards are unlikely

Annual Salary: $90,400- $113,000
