The opportunity:

Hitachi Energy is seeking Product Owner for its Bangalore, IN location and be part of a global organization with offices in Houston, San Jose (CA.), Vasteras (Sweden) and Krakow (Poland). Under limited direction, perform complex assignments requiring diversified knowledge Software development and software engineering to cost effectively accomplish the organization’s goals and objectives. Proactively seek and implement initiatives to improve quality and increase customer satisfaction.

How you’ll make an impact:

  • Own and prioritize the product backlog, ensuring clarity and alignment with the “definition of done” criteria.
  • Act as the voice of the customer within Agile teams, collaborating closely with Scrum Masters, developers, and stakeholders to deliver incremental value through iterative development cycles.
  • Work closely with R&D, engineering, product management, and customers to gather requirements, define features, and ensure successful delivery. Foster a culture of reflection, retrospection, and incremental improvement within the team.
  • Design, develop, review, re-factor, and maintain software with quality and performance in mind.
  • Collaborate on planning, development, and testing to meet “definition of done” criteria, proactively identifying issues and working across teams to resolve problems.
  • Identify and manage risks for schedule and quality with the team and ask for help when needed. Try new things. Fail fast when needed. Help others learn from mistakes.
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Technical Skills and Experience:

  • Required Masters/PhD in Power system or related engineering stream.
  • A total of 10 years exp with Minimum 4 years as a Product Owner in software development, debugging, and performance tuning. Strong knowledge and experience working with power system modeling and simulation, analysis and operation, optimization, and numerical analysis methodology.
  • Familiar with analytical tools, such as Load Flow, Contingency Analysis, State Estimation, AGC, Economic Dispatch and Power Systems Simulators etc. are desirable. Demonstrated experience working in Agile development environments (e.g., Scrum, Kanban), including backlog management, sprint planning, and iterative delivery.
  • Proficiency / experience with programming languages utilizing C#, C/C++, MATLAB, Java, Python, FORTRAN. Experience with Linux and Windows development environments.
  • Solid theoretical background in Numerical Analysis Methods, Optimization Techniques, and Power System Modeling and Operation is a plus. Experience in model prototyping through use of optimization toolkits or machine learning / AI packages will be a plus.
  • Hands-on experience with SCADA Energy Management System (EMS) Applications: Generation Control, Network Analysis, Operator Training Simulator is desirable. Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Experience working in an Agile development environment is desirable. Ability to interact effectively with team members, Product management, and customers.
  • Good oral and written communication skills. Ability to effectively present information to and get information from peers, product management, project team, sales, customers, management and other stakeholders.
