JOB DESCRIPTION
We are seeking a motivated Plant Facilities Intern to join our Facility Monitoring & Control System (FMCS) team at STMicroelectronics Malta.
This internship offers hands-on experience in operating, monitoring, and maintaining advanced semiconductor facility systems using SCADA and PLC technologies. The intern will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure optimal plant operations and contribute to innovative automation projects.
Duties & Responsibilities
The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Gaining exposure to semiconductor facility systems and their monitoring and control platforms using SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition).
- Assisting in the design of SCADA graphic pages and the integration of field instrumentation and sensors.
- Supporting the operation, maintenance, upgrade, and basic troubleshooting of SCADA and PLC systems.
- Contributing to new system integration projects and supporting daily SCADA system usage by the operations team.
- Supporting data acquisition and data quality processes and helping to analyze equipment and sustainability data to improve system performance.
- Participating in automation projects related to new manufacturing facilities and systems.
- Assisting in preparing and updating AutoCAD drawings and technical documentation to support the definition of technical requirements for new factory buildings and utilities.
Skills & Qualifications
The ideal candidate shall:
- Currently pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Mechatronics, Computer Science, or related fields.
- Basic understanding of SCADA, PLC systems, and industrial automation concepts is a plus.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to perform statistical data analysis.
- Good communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
- Proactive problem-solving attitude and willingness to learn in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
