About the role
The Industrial Automation & Robotic Applications Department of Agile Robots is looking for a Intern (m/f/d) Humanoid Robotics & Teleoperation, who will support the ARENA2036 Humanoid Robotics platform project by building, testing, and improving robotic systems and teleoperation devices for humanoid robots. The role is based at the ARENA2036 research campus in Stuttgart, with occasional travel to headquarters in Munich for system integration.
Your Responsibilities
- Platform Support: Contribute to the ARENA2036 Humanoid Robotics platform project, supporting flexible automation use cases.
- Teleoperation Devices: Support the development and improvement of teleoperation devices for humanoid robots, across both hardware and software components.
- Prototype Build: Assemble, integrate, and test mechanical and mechatronic prototypes.
- Experimentation: Run experiments, validate system performance, and iterate on prototype designs based on the results.
- Documentation: Document experiments, designs, and technical findings in a structured, reproducible format.
- Cross-Site Collaboration: Collaborate with colleagues in Stuttgart and travel occasionally to headquarters and lab space in Munich for system integration and testing.
Essential Skills
- Academic Background: Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's program in Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, Mechatronics, or a related field.
- Hands-On Building: Comfortable assembling, wiring, and testing physical hardware and mechatronic setups.
- Structured Work: Independent, structured, and reliable approach to experimental and prototyping work.
- Documentation: Ability to produce clear, reproducible technical documentation of experiments and designs.
- Languages: Good communication skills in both German and English.
Beneficial Skills
- Mechatronic Projects: Experience with mechatronic, robotics, or DIY hardware projects.
- Robotics Frameworks: Basic familiarity with robot kinematics, URDF, or robotics frameworks such as ROS.
- Programming: Practical programming experience in Python.
- CAD: Experience with CAD and mechanical design.
- Rapid Prototyping: Experience with rapid prototyping methods such as 3D printing.
