About this Job

About Us

At CosmoChute, we are building modular, reusable lunar robotics infrastructure for long-duration planetary operations. Our systems combine mobility, modular payload deployment, survivability through lunar nights, and repair ability to make sustained presence on the Moon economically viable. We’re a deeply technical, fast-moving team that believes in real ownership, real trust and in creating an environment where your best work matters.

If you want to work on hardware that will one day operate on the moon, this is the role.

Your Role

We're looking for an Avionics Engineer to join our core engineering team. This is an early-career role for someone who is comfortable thinking about circuits, someone who has built things, broken things, and learned from both. You'll work directly alongside experienced engineers on real flight hardware, and you'll be expected to engage fully, ask questions, and take ownership of your work from day one. You’ll be working alongside the senior engineers on the mission-critical hardware that keeps the assets on the moon running smoothly.

Your Responsibilities

  • Support the design and development of avionics hardware for lunar robotic systems (focusing on PCB design, power electronics)

  • Assist with embedded firmware development for sensor integration, motor control, and onboard data handling

  • Support hardware bring-up, debugging, and integration activities

  • Develop and maintain device drivers and communication interfaces under the guidance of senior engineers

  • Contribute to avionics verification and test activities, including writing test procedures and documenting results

  • Work closely with mechanical, software, and systems engineers and learn how a space system integrates end-to-end

Requirements

Must have

  • Strong fundamentals in electronics (circuit theory, digital systems, and signal integrity)

  • Hands-on experience with micro-controllers, development boards, or embedded platforms (STM32, Raspberry Pi, or equivalent)

Good to have

  • Bachelor’s in Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, or related field

  • Academic or project experience with PCB design (KiCad, Altium, or equivalent)

  • Familiarity with communication protocols such as CAN, SPI, UART, RS485, or Ethernet

  • Final year project or thesis in an electronics, robotics, or space-adjacent domain

  • Participation in student satellite, rocketry, or rover teams

What we deeply value

  • Curiosity and ownership

  • Ability to learn quickly across disciplines

  • Practical engineering judgment and first principles thinking

  • Profound mutual respect among co-workers

  • Strong grit towards troubleshooting and iterative development

  • Cross-disciplinary thinking and collaboration

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation

  • Performance based equity participation

  • Meaningful long-term growth potential

  • Complete honesty with only legally required abstractions

We're pioneering a new model for lunar logistics with our modular, reusable rover platform, purpose-built to deliver payloads reliably and cost-effectively to the Moon's south pole. Our system lowers entry barriers for lunar missions by: * Eliminating the need for custom mobility solutions through standardized, CubeSat-style payload bays, * Protecting instruments through harsh lunar environments, including night survivability and dust mitigation, * Enabling multi-mission reuse, significantly reducing per-mission costs and timelines. We empower space agencies, research groups, and commercial ventures to focus on their science and service, while we take care of the infrastructure. Join us in building the foundation for a sustainable lunar economy.
