About this Job
Scope of Position The Controls Technician II will actively support the Plant Packaging, Processing, and DC work cells including the New River Pepsi site. This team member will demonstrate the leadership, willingness, and ability to actively support team concepts utilizing our TPM philosophy and operating principles. This position must have flexibility in their scheduled hours each day, and weekend work is required.
Position Accountabilities
- Perform and maintain PLC, HMI, LCT, etc. backups to ensure control systems are properly backed up to the server so they will be protected by tape backups.
- Will be responsible for QSA required calibrations as well as maintain associated records for QSA audits.
- Assist MT's in troubleshooting instrumentation and controls issues to ensure problems are properly resolved and solutions are re-applied.Perform programming changes/additions for small projects, Kaizen implementation, etc.
- Maintain all plant drawings including verifying and as-builting changes made by plant personnel as well as controlling drawings issued to corporate engineering and contractors for project related work and distributing drawings as applicable.
- Act as plant controls representative on projects to ensure plant standards are adhered to.
- Assist in preparation of CAR's and REA's for new projects and maintain required project documentation.
- Administer the implementation of maintenance and operator training for skill development and all new equipment and systems installed on new projects.
- Manage the plant electrical power, control and programming applications ensuring updated documentation meeting or exceeding PepsiCo, NEC, NFPA, State and local Standards and Insurance requirements.
- Support AMP and FI teams by facilitating the accurate interpretation and reporting of production performance data.
- Provide support to the plant TPM Planned Maintenance Pillar and be actively engaged in the development and implementation of TPM systems.
- Lead and support AM and FI teams
- Lead and support maintenance team controls skills development
- Support AMP team understanding of line and equipment controls strategies
Miscellaneous
- Temperature Instruments -- (We have all 100 ohm platinum RTD's)
- Flow Instruments -- Micro-motion mass flow meters and both Rosemount and Endress & Hauser magnetic flow meters. Should know basic theory behind each (mass flow -- coriolis effect, magnetic flow -- velocity affects magnetic field).
- Control Valves -- Primarily APV on process and Fisher on steam.
- Analytical instrumentation -- pH, Conductivity (Rosemount Analytical), Chlorine Monitors (Hach).
- Allen-Bradley PLC's -- ControlLogix (vast majority), CompactLogix and SLC 500 series.
- Communications -- Ethernet, DeviceNet, ControlNet, Flex I/O.
- Allen-Bradley VFD's -- PowerFlex series 70/700 (vast majority) and 4/40.
- Servo's -- ACOPOS (majority), SEW and Kollmorgen/Danaher
- HMI Software -- Wonderware, PanelView Plus (RSView Studio), PanelView (Panelbuilder) and CopaData "zenOn" software.
- 480 Volt 3 Phase distribution/motor starting, etc.
Qualifications
Position Requirements
- Minimum 3-5 years PLC/HMI programming experience with Allen-Bradley PLC's. Experience with ControlLogix processors, PanelView Plus, Servo's and Wonderware HMI software preferred.
- Proficient with AutoCad software as well as Microsoft Office Suite.
- Some project related experience desired.
- Able to read schematics.
- High School Diploma or GED
- 2 year college technical degree preferred.
- Demonstrated controls problem solving
- Self-driven
