About this Job

Job description

About Us

At Omegga, we’re on a mission to reinvent how AI and science can drive positive change for animals, people, and the planet. Outdated practices still impact billions of lives, and we’re here to change that.Five years ago, we began in the poultry industry with a bold idea: use breakthrough AI-powered spectroscopy to identify chick gender before hatching and eliminate the need to cull billions of male chicks. With the support of our customers, investors, and the European Commission, we are entering the next chapter for scaling industrial robotics platforms while expanding into new applications. Join us and help build systems where deep tech meets real-world impact. www.omegga.de

What We Are Looking For

We are looking for a Control Systems & Electronics Engineer who takes ownership of the electrical and electronic architecture of our robotic systems. This role combines industrial automation and embedded electronics: from designing control cabinets and integrating motion systems to developing and validating electronic hardware that makes our machines robust in the field. You will work hands-on in a deep-tech startup environment alongside robotics, mechanical, embedded, and software teams to build scalable and reliable industrial automation systems.

Your profile

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Embedded Systems or comparable qualification
  • Hands-on experience in industrial automation, control cabinet design, or embedded hardware development
  • Experience with servo drive systems, motion control architectures, and industrial communication systems (EtherCAT, Profinet, CANopen or similar)
  • Experience designing schematics and PCBs using professional CAE/EDA tools (e.g. EPLAN or comparable)
  • Ability to independently bring up, test, and debug electronic systems using lab equipment (e.g. oscilloscopes)
  • Familiarity with industrial electrical standards, grounding concepts, protection, and functional safety
  • Comfortable collaborating closely with robotics, firmware, and system engineering teams during integration and troubleshooting

Why us?

  • Mission-driven team: Work on technology with tangible global impact.
  • Relocation Support: Fully furnished apartment within 3 minutes walking distance of the office (up to 6 months).
  • VSOPs: Above average company participation package
  • Modern Work Environment: Beautiful office in Munich’s Werksviertel with up to 50% remote work.
  • Perks: Monthly flexible voucher (Urban Sports, D-Ticket, REWE, IKEA, and more).
  • Competitive Salary: Market-aligned compensation.
  • Vacation: 28 paid vacation days per year.

Your mission

  • Own the electrical and electronics architecture: define system-level design including control cabinets, power distribution, sensor interfaces, communication buses, and safety concepts.
  • Design and integrate motion systems: select and integrate servo drives, safety components, and industrial communication protocols (e.g. EtherCAT, Profinet, CANopen) into a coherent control architecture.
  • Develop and validate electronics: design schematics and PCBs, select components, and bring up prototypes through debugging and iterative development.
  • Ensure reliability and compliance: design systems aligned with industrial standards (e.g. EN 60204-1) and functional safety requirements for real-world operation.
  • Make machines robust in the field: support commissioning, testing, qualification, and root-cause analysis when issues occur.
  • Drive industrialisation and documentation: create clear electrical documentation (schematics, BOMs, terminal plans, test procedures) using CAE tools (e.g. EPLAN or comparable), support manufacturing partners, and improve testability for scaling production.

At Omegga, we revolutionize spectroscopy use by combining it with artificial intelligence. We offer data-driven spectral insights for broad applications - cheaper, more accurate and in real time. Starting with animals - specifically poultry - but aiming far beyond. Our first proven application is to solve the big problem that male baby chicks are killed after hatching. We detect the sex of chicken embryos in the egg just by shining light through eggs and analyzing sex-specific patterns via AI. Our approach is non-invasive, early and cost-effective.
