About the Team

The Smart Factory & Digitalization team is driving the adoption of Industry 4.0 technologies across manufacturing operations. Working in agile, multidisciplinary teams, we develop and deploy Industrial AI, IoT, automation, and digitalization solutions that improve productivity, quality, and operational visibility on the shop floor. Our team collaborates closely with manufacturing, automation, and process engineering functions to transform data into intelligent, scalable solutions for the factories of the future.

What you can look forward to as AI Industrial Intern:

• Develop and train computer vision models (YOLO-based architectures) for automated inspection and quality control systems.
• Support the implementation of Edge AI solutions using platforms such as Raspberry Pi, NVIDIA Jetson, and Arduino Portenta.
• Configure and deploy Industrial IoT networks using communication protocols such as MQTT and OPC UA.
• Develop software integrations between embedded hardware, PLCs, and centralized database platforms.
• Collaborate in Smart Factory projects focused on manufacturing digitalization and process automation.
• Work within Agile Scrum teams, participating in sprint planning, daily meetings, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Analyze production and machine data to support intelligent decision-making and operational efficiency improvements.
• Gain hands-on experience with Industry 4.0 technologies in a real manufacturing environment.

Your Profile as AI Industrial Intern:

• Currently pursuing a degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Intelligent Systems Engineering, or a related field.
• Intermediate programming skills in Python.
• Working knowledge of Linux-based operating systems.
• Basic understanding of computer vision, machine learning, or artificial intelligence concepts.
• Familiarity with databases and data management concepts.
• Availability to work onsite from 8am to 2pm at ZF El Salto for one whole year (before graduation)
• Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.
• Intermediate English communication skills are considered a plus for working in a global environment.
