As a Mechanical Technician Industrial Water Waste (IWS) Ultra-Pure Water (UPW) working with the LotusWorks team, you will be based on a client site within the Semiconductor sector at a state‑of‑the‑art facility in Leixlip, Co. Kildare.
In this role, you will join a highly experienced onsite team responsible for the delivery of IWS waste and UPW management through proactive maintenance, fault finding, and strict adherence to environmental and safety standards. scopes within an active manufacturing environment. LotusWorks has provided continuous support to this client site for over two decades, backed by established onsite management structures, reliable administrative support, and a collaborative, performance-driven team culture.
Responsibilities:
- This position is responsible for the commissioning and de-commissioning of a range of UPW IWS associated Live Systems, including but not limited to those listed below:
- Ultra-pure water
- Industrial Waste Systems
- Water Waste
- Bulk Chemical Waste
- Ammonia Waste
- Acid Waste
- Solvent Waste
- Caustic Waste
- Working as an UPW IWS Technician as part of a wider multi-disciplinary team supporting commissioning and de-commissioning activities.
- Demonstrate ownership and initiative in a high‑paced, schedule‑driven environment.
- Deliver assigned tasks in line with project milestones and safety requirements.
- Carry out all duties in a manner that poses no risk to personnel safety or facility operations.
- Undertake any other duties or responsibilities as assigned in line with the role.
- Carry out hands-on installation of mechanical plant and equipment including pumps, heat exchangers, tanks, pipework, valves, ductwork, supports, and brackets.
- Complete cutting, fitting, bolting, torquing, levelling, alignment, and securing of equipment. Install gaskets, flanges, flexible connections, vibration isolators, and mechanical fixings in line with specifications.
- Perform valve installation, actuator fitting, and torque control in accordance with approved procedures.
- Support welding, brazing, and pressure works through coordination with certified trades.
- Monitor workmanship quality and compliance with drawings, specifications, and standards.
- Identify and resolve clashes, access issues, and sequencing problems on site.
- Escalate technical, safety, or logistical constraints to the Installation Supervisor.
- Prepare systems for inspection and handover to Quality and Commissioning teams.
- Work with trades to ensure equipment is installed in a safe, compliant, and approved manner.
- Follow detailed installation and tool turn-on documentation.
- Monitor contractor installation workmanship to ensure compliance with specifications.
- Track mechanical installation activities against the project schedule.
- Support tool start-up activities, including inspections, pressure testing, and verification prior to handover.
- Witness tests and inspections carried out on mechanical systems and connections.
- Generate Before Action Reviews (BARs) and execute documentation to support decommissioning activities on live systems in line with site procedures.
- Generate and execute commissioning documentation including OATs and FATs (Operational and Functional Acceptance Tests).
- Work with Operations and Engineering teams to develop testing protocols and system start‑up procedures.
- Safely troubleshoot and resolve system and instrumentation issues in a live manufacturing environment.
- Work to tight timelines while maintaining strict safety and quality standards.
- Carry out QA/QC walk-downs of mechanical systems and equipment.
- Ensure documentation complies with client quality and commissioning requirements.
- Generate, execute, and maintain commissioning documentation in a controlled and organised manner.
- Record test results and system performance data.
- Support the closure of identified field issues and verify that all corrective actions have been effectively implemented.
- Interact and respond to Project and Commissioning Leads direction.
- Attend daily meetings and provide accurate status updates on assigned systems and activities.
- Co-ordinate with commissioning, operations, engineering, and safety teams to support system readiness.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with peers, supervisors, and client stakeholders.
- Execute all works in strict accordance with site safety protocols, procedures, permits, and approved documentation.
- The role involves the commissioning and de-commissioning of multiple Live Systems, executed with unwavering adherence to COHE (Control of Hazardous Energy) procedures to ensure the highest standards of safety and operational control.
- Maintain exceptional attention to safety standards, particularly when working on live monitoring and FMS systems.
- Any other duties or responsibilities that may be assigned to you in your role.
Skills Required:
- Ideally a minimum of 2 years’ industry experience with a mechanical maintenance and /or start up mechanical process, Installation or commissioning environments.
- Mechanical fitter background.
- Strong troubleshooting skills across a wide variety Mechanical area.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft 365 suite applications, with the ability to produce accurate documentation and support operational tasks.
- Strong communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Flexibility and accountability in approach to work.
Education / Licenses / Certifications:
- Time-served mechanical trades qualification or a Degree in Mechanical Engineering with relevant experience.
- Proof of education, licenses, and certifications will be required where applicable
