What you will be doing in the role of Technician, Mechanical Services - Intermediate:

  • Perform corrective and preventative maintenance on valves, actuators, and related mechanical and instrumentation equipment, both in-shop and on customer sites
  • Independently disassemble, inspect, repair, assemble, and test valves and valve automation equipment
  • Install and remove valves and related equipment at customer sites as required
  • Troubleshoot valve, actuator, and control system issues to ensure proper operation
  • Conduct on-site walkdowns, inspections, valve stroking, data collection, and reporting
  • Perform instrument setup, calibration, and testing to meet required specifications
  • Review and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications to determine layouts, materials, and installation procedures
  • Measure, mark, and position components for machining, fabrication, and installation
  • Complete final assembly and testing of valve and valve automation products
  • Diagnose and resolve equipment issues, including replacement of defective components
  • Document inspection, repair, and testing activities accurately and completely
  • Respond to valve-related emergencies during and outside of regular working hours as required
  • Support shop maintenance activities and prepare equipment for shipping
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with customers
  • Complete required time and expense entries

Knowledge and skills required for the role:

  • Technician or Technologist diploma in a related mechanical field, preferably an Instrumentation diploma, or equivalent combination of education and hands-on experience
  • Five (5+) years of hands-on shop and/or field experience in valve repair, maintenance, and automation
  • Experience assembling, repairing, and testing valves, actuators, and valve automation equipment
  • Experience working with machining, millwrighting, welding, rigging, and lifting operations
  • Experience working in a regulated or quality-controlled environment is an asset
  • Strong knowledge of industrial valves and pneumatic, hydraulic, and electric actuators
  • Working knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical circuits
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical documentation
  • Understanding of shop practices, machining processes, and measurement techniques
  • Knowledge of applicable health and safety regulations for industrial environments
  • Familiarity with process automation systems and applicable industry codes is considered an asset
  • Proficient with mechanical hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a team environment
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety
  • Effective time management, organization, and prioritization skills
  • Customer-focused mindset with strong professionalism and communication skills
  • Comfortable working in physically demanding environments and responding to urgent service needs
