About this Job

Technical Program Manager - Embodied AI Safety R&D

As a Technical Program Manager on the Embodied AI Safety R&D Team, you will help coordinate and lead the cross-functional development of new technologies supporting the expansion of Boston Dynamics robots into new applications and environments. Every day, you will work to collaborate closely with researchers, engineers, and functional managers that are building embodied AI/ML systems that will help our robots operate safely near people. You will help chart a course for a future where humans and robots can coexist in complex spaces. This role is a unique opportunity to be a part of the development of the next generation of Boston Dynamics robots.

Boston Dynamics is a world leader in mobile robots, tackling some of the toughest robotics challenges. In this role you will work to create novel solutions to one of the most important problems in robotics. If you are creative, thrive in a small team environment, and passionate about a world where humans and robots truly work together - come join us!

How you will make an impact:

  • Coordinate with other program managers to deliver your program into next-gen robotic products

  • Partner with functional managers to develop and manage processes for the development of safety-relevant software, perception systems, and AI/ML systems

  • Work with functional leads to establish goals, a plan, and a schedule, tracking performance against that plan

  • Communicate regularly on status, schedule, risks, and deviations

  • Coordinate with stakeholders to define project scope, objectives, and deliverables

  • Use resource planning to identify bottlenecks, unblock them, and adjust schedules accordingly

  • Continually track projects and update stakeholders on top priorities and the critical path

  • Proactively identify and mitigate risks to program delivery, and implement effective contingency plans when necessary

  • Be a champion for effectively scaling embodied AI safety

We are looking for:

  • Bachelor’s degree in software engineering, robotics, or a related field

  • 7+ years of experience working in large-scale software, robotics, and/or machine learning development environments

  • 5+ years of program management experience in a professional and product-driven software development environment

  • Experience with safety-relevant AI/ML processes (e.g. autonomous vehicles) is a nice-to-have

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Proficiency in project management software and skills (e.g. JIRA, SmartSheet)

  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously

We are interested in every qualified candidate who is eligible to work in the United States. However, we are not able to sponsor visas for this position.
