About the role:

Reporting to the Superintendent, Mine Systems, the Specialist, Autonomous Haulage Systems (AHS) is responsible for the optimization, sustainment, and continuous improvement of the autonomous haulage fleet at Elkview Operations.

In this role, you will bridge the gap between mining operations, mine planning, and technical systems. This position offers a unique blend of office and field work, making it an excellent opportunity to expand technical capabilities in a practical aspect.

In this role you will:

  • Participate in and adhere to health and safety programs and policies
  • Adherence to and sponsoring safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Monitor AHS system health and performance metrics (KPIs) to identify bottlenecks, cycle time issues, and provide leadership to opportunities that improve productivity
  • Provide operational technical support for issues regarding the Autonomous Haulage System (e.g., Komatsu FrontRunner) and Fleet Management System (e.g., Modular Dispatch)
  • Facilitate alignment between mine planning, production, and the AHS technical team to ensure the mine plan is executed effectively by the autonomous fleet
  • Manage relationships with autonomy providers and technical vendors to influence product development, resolve bugs, and tailor solutions to EVR’s specific operating conditions
  • Apply organizational change management techniques to ensure new AHS features and workflows are adopted smoothly by controllers and equipment operators

Requirements:

  • We are looking for the rightperson, not just a specific resume. We are open to candidates from the following backgrounds:

1. Engineering Professionals:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in any Engineering discipline (e.g., Mining, Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Computer, etc)
  • Eligible for registration with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC)
  • Note: For EIT applicants, we are willing to consider those with less than5years of experience provided youdemonstratestrong technical aptitude and relevant co-op/internship exposure to mining technology

2. Operational Specialists:

  • Significant operational or supervisory leadership experience withAHSor conventional haul optimization
  • Important Note: Candidates applying via this pathway must show a proven ability to troubleshoot complex system logic beyond standard operating procedures

Required Skills for All Candidates:

  • Technical Aptitude: A strong understandingor proven ability to quickly learnhow autonomous systems function, including the interaction between mine planning logic, radio networks, and equipment performance
  • System Knowledge: Experience with KomatsuFrontRunner(preferred) or Caterpillar Command, as well as Fleet Management Systems (ieModular,Wenco,etc)
  • Soft Skills: Outstanding problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are vital for bridging the gap between technical teams andmineoperations

$106,000 - $131,000 a year

The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
