About this Job

Join Us in Building the Future of Home Robotics

At Sunday, we're developing personal robots to reclaim the hours lost to repetitive tasks. We're focused on an ambitious goal to make generalized robots broadly accessible, enabling households to take back quality time.

We have spent the last 18 months building a talented team, securing capital, and validating our technology. We are now seeking passionate individuals to join us in the next phase of our growth. If you are ready to apply your skills to the forefront of robotics innovation, we’d love to hear from you.

What to Expect

As a Software Engineer, Robot Behaviors, you will build high-level decision-making systems that give our robots the autonomy to work safely among humans. This key role balances classical logic with machine learning solutions to enable natural interaction and real-world behavior in a domestic environment.

What You’ll Do

  • Autonomous Behaviors: Develop high-level logic and decision-making frameworks that leverage sensor information to govern robot intent, focused on safety, intelligence, and helpfulness.

  • Human Interaction: Partner with our Product and Design teams to architect systems for natural communication and “social intelligence” within the home.

  • Animation Systems: Build the frameworks that bridge expressive character motion and physical hardware execution.

  • Product Shipping: Drive platform development toward our in-home Beta deployments by building robust, self-contained, incremental deliveries that fulfill the “Sunday” promise.

What You’ll Bring

  • Artificial Intelligence: 4+ years experience developing end-to-end AI systems in robotics, games, or embodied AI.

  • Systems Engineering: Experience building multi-process systems in C++ or Python, with a deep understanding of concurrency, event-driven architectures, and safe hardware control.

  • Frontier Thinking: Familiarity with the latest in multimodal model research (VLMs, VLAs) and an understanding of how to apply them to real-world robotics.

Nice to Have

  • Experience as a founding or early hire; able to define a release roadmap where no blueprint exists.

  • Practical experience (or high curiosity) in deploying multimodal models to physical hardware.

  • Publications in multimodal models, computer vision, or robotics.

  • Experience contributing across the robotics stack, from high-level autonomy down to navigation, planning, and controls.

At Sunday Robotics, we’re building technology shaped by real people — curious, creative, and diverse. We’re proud to be an equal opportunity employer and consider all qualified applicants regardless of race, color, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, genetics, disability, age, or veteran status.

Even if you don’t meet every single requirement, we encourage you to apply. Studies show that women and underrepresented groups often hold back unless they meet 100% of the criteria — we don’t want that to be the reason we miss out on great talent.
