Department: Support & Field Operations
Reports To: Director of Support / Field Operations
About Relay Robotics
Relay Robotics builds fully autonomous delivery robots for hospitals. Our robots transport medications, lab specimens, and supplies 24/7/365 — riding elevators, integrating with automated doors, authenticating via RFID badges, and operating safely in live clinical environments.
We operate at the intersection of robotics, cloud software, and healthcare infrastructure.
The Role
We are seeking a Senior Robotics Technical Support & Field Engineer to serve as the highest escalation point for complex technical issues while also leading on-site installations and integrations at customer hospitals.
This is a hands-on, systems-level role ideal for someone who thrives troubleshooting autonomous systems, networking, and hardware — and is equally comfortable in a data center, elevator machine room, or hospital corridor.
You will resolve advanced technical issues, deploy new sites, perform repairs, and partner directly with hospital IT and Facilities teams.
What You’ll Do
Advanced Technical Support (L3 Escalation)
- Own complex hardware, software, and integration escalations
- Diagnose navigation, perception, and sensor issues (LIDAR, cameras, SLAM)
- Troubleshoot WiFi (WPA2-PSK/WPA Enterprise), LTE failover, firewall rules, and cloud connectivity
- Analyze logs and telemetry to perform structured root cause analysis
- Partner with Engineering to resolve firmware, OS, and platform defects
Field Installations & Integrations
- Lead on-site deployments in hospitals nationwide
- Configure robots, networking, and cloud connectivity
- Support elevator controller integrations (board-based or cloud-based)
- Install and validate automated door integrations
- Configure and test RFID badge authentication systems
- Conduct site acceptance testing and go-live validation
Hardware Repair & Preventative Maintenance
- Perform break-fix repairs (drive systems, sensors, power systems, payload modules)
- Execute preventative maintenance visits
- Document findings and recommend reliability improvements
What We’re Looking For
Required
- 3+ years in robotics, autonomous systems, IT infrastructure, or field engineering
- Strong Linux troubleshooting experience
- Experience with networking (VLANs, firewalls, port validation, WiFi enterprise environments)
- Hands-on hardware repair experience
- Willingness to travel 20–40%
- Ability to work in hospital environments with professionalism and discretion
Preferred
- Experience with ROS / ROS2
- Cloud platform familiarity (GCP preferred)
- Experience integrating elevators, access control, or building systems
- Healthcare IT or regulated environment experience
