Plans, calculates, designs, develops, tests, and modifies mechanical concepts or subsystems.
As a Senior Robotics Engineer, you will contribute to the design, analysis, development, testing, and optimization of complex mechanical and electromechanical systems for the next-generation robotic platform that will shape the future of healthcare. You will play a critical role in applying advanced modeling, simulation, and control methodologies throughout the product development lifecycle and test apparatus—from concept to launch. You will combine hands-on engineering with high-level analytical thinking, leading or supporting cross-functional initiatives, and mentoring junior team members where applicable.
Key Responsibilities:
- Apply advanced analytical and simulation methodologies, including mathematical modeling, finite element analysis (FEA), and system-level simulations, to the design, development, and optimization of mechanical and electromechanical systems.
- Perform and interpret static, dynamic, kinematic, and vibration analyses to support subsystem and system-level design decisions.
- Collaborate with electrical, firmware, and systems engineers to define and implement sensor and actuator specifications, control systems, and electromechanical interfaces.
- Design, model, and develop precision mechanical and mechatronic subsystems using CAD (e.g., SolidWorks) and other relevant tools, ensuring Design for Manufacturing & Assembly (DFMA), reliability, and compliance with relevant standards.
- Contribute to design characterization and verification activities, including protocol creation, execution, and statistical analysis of test data.
- Support analytical and experimental work to increase the reliability and robustness of the system or subsystems.
- Postprocess experimental results using engineering principles and statistical tools to validate models and improve system performance.
- Adopt and improve Model-Based Design best practices using tools like MATLAB, Simulink, and SimScape or other tools as needed; contribute to real-time simulation and HIL testing frameworks.
- Author clear and thorough documentation including design descriptions, analysis reports, test protocols, and test summaries.
- Scout and evaluate new tools and technologies, integrate them into the development workflow, and share learnings with the broader team.
- Participate in brainstorming sessions, innovation workshops, and IP generation efforts.
Qualifications:
- PhD or Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics.
- Minimum of 8 years of hands-on product development experience, in a regulated industry such as medical devices/robotics, automotive, aerospace.
- Strong background in analytical and simulation tools:
- MATLAB, Simulink, SimScape (Simulink Real-Time and HIL experience preferred)
- SolidWorks CAD and 3D tolerance stack-up tools (e.g., CETOL)
- FEA tools (e.g., ANSYS or SolidWorks Simulation)
- Deep understanding of DAQ systems, motion control, sensor integration, and control theory.
- Experience with system-level integration and troubleshooting of electromechanical systems.
- Familiarity with DOE and statistical analysis and tools is highly desired.
- Prior experience with data mining.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across disciplines and adapt in a fast-paced R&D environment.

The base pay range for this position is:
$137,910 - $189,629
Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
If this is a commission eligible position the commission eligibility will be in accordance with the terms of the Company's plan. Commissions are based on individual performance and/or company performance.
