About this Job

About Multiply Labs

Multiply Labs is a cutting-edge startup based in San Francisco, California, supported by top-tier tech and life science investors such as Casdin Capital, Lux Capital, and Y Combinator. Our mission is to build the best robots in the world, and use them to make the most advanced life-saving therapies accessible to all.

We are revolutionizing the manufacturing of cell therapies by developing advanced robotic systems designed to automate and scale the production of these life-saving treatments. Our robots empower biopharma companies to produce cell therapies at scale without significantly changing their existing processes, reducing regulatory barriers and risks. While traditional approaches are time-consuming and lead to extremely high costs for patients (typically $1M+ per patient), using robotics can make these transformative treatments more accessible and affordable to patients in need.

About the Role

At Multiply Labs, we are applying AI to solve complex manipulation challenges in robotic cell therapy manufacturing. We're looking for a Robotics Engineer specializing in AI and machine learning to develop the next generation of our intelligent robotic systems.

This role is central to our strategy of using learning-based methods for real-world tasks that are difficult to solve with traditional robotics. You will be responsible for developing and deploying practical systems with a core focus on imitation learning and advanced humanoid grasping. You will work closely with a multi-disciplinary team to bring these AI-driven solutions from research into a production environment, directly impacting our mission to manufacture life-saving therapies at scale.

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop & Train AI Models: Design, train, and deploy deep learning models for robotic manipulation on hardware, leveraging state-of-the-art imitation learning techniques.
  • Build Data Pipelines: Create and manage the full lifecycle of robotics data—from teleoperated data collection and simulation-based generation to processing and augmentation for model training.
  • Leverage Simulation: Utilize high-fidelity physics simulators (e.g., NVIDIA Isaac Sim) to train and validate robust policies before deploying them on our physical robots.
  • Stay on the Cutting Edge: Stay at the forefront of Physical AI research (e.g., foundation models, transformers for robotics) and translate breakthrough concepts into practical applications.
  • Mentorship & Best Practices: Mentoring other engineers and championing software best practices to elevate the entire team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or graduate degree in Computer Science, Robotics, AI, or a related field with a focus on machine learning.
  • 3+ years of relevant industry experience deploying production-grade machine learning models.
  • High proficiency with Python and deep learning frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow).
  • Experience with modern robotics simulation environments designed for ML (e.g., Isaac Sim, MuJoCo, PyBullet).
  • A strong theoretical and practical understanding of imitation learning, reinforcement learning, and computer vision fundamentals.
  • A passion for solving real-world robotics problems and a drive to build systems that work reliably outside of the lab.

Nice to Haves

  • A track record of deploying learned policies onto physical robot hardware, especially high-degree-of-freedom manipulators or humanoids.
  • Publications in top-tier robotics or AI conferences.
  • Familiarity with recent advancements in foundation models for robotics.
  • Experience building and managing large-scale robotics datasets.

Benefits

  • 401K with 4% company match
  • Health Insurance
  • Dental Insurance
  • Vision Insurance
  • Life Insurance
  • Partial Health Insurance for Child Dependents
  • HSA or FSA
  • Twice weekly catered lunch (for team members in SF office)
  • Pre-tax Commuter Benefit
  • 10 Paid Holidays
  • Flexible PTO
  • Paid Parental Leave
