About this Job

About Emesent

Emesent is a Brisbane-based world leader in autonomous LiDAR mapping and drone autonomy. Our flagship product, Hovermap, delivers autonomous LiDAR mapping in GPS-denied environments for the Mining and Defence sectors. Our newly launched GX1 brings high-performance handheld LiDAR to surveying and the built environment. Behind both sits a pipeline of future hardware products and a team that takes hard engineering problems from concept to the field.

The role

SLAM is the technology under everything Emesent makes. It'swhatletsHovermapautonomouslyfly and map where GPScan'treach, what powers GX1’s extraordinary accuracyin the hands of surveyors, and what our reputation is built on.It'salso pulled in a different direction by every industry we serve — mining wants robustness,AECwantsaccurate and visually impressive point clouds, and the frontier keeps moving.

This role exists to own that tension. You'll be theProduct Manager for our SLAM team, working alongside some of the world's best SLAM engineers to decide where ourSLAMinvestment goes, prove our advantage to the market, and turn deep research capability into products users can verify is the best. You'llreport to the Director of Product and partner day-to-day with the SLAM engineering manager. You’llalso work closely with the Senior Product Manager – Data Platform,as the front-end for many of the SLAM improvements delivered by the team.

What you'll achieve in your first 12 months

  • Set the direction for our SLAM investment. You’llbuild the depth of context — through users, engineering, and the market — tocreatea SLAM technology strategythatdetermineswhere our frontier investment goes over the next 2–3 years, including whatwe'reexplicitly not pursuing.

  • Ship SLAM improvements users can point to.You'll identify and prioritise the improvements with the highest uservalue, anddeliver capability users can verify: new environments unlocked, accuracy claims we stand behind, jobs our products can now do that they couldn't.

  • Lift how theSLAMteamexecutes.Partnering with your engineering manager counterpart, you'llbuild a faster and more predictable release cadence, getting great products into users' hands sooner without trading away quality.

  • Make our SLAM advantage measurable and legible to buyers. You'll define how Emesent benchmarks SLAM quality — accuracy, drift, robustness across environments — against the best alternatives, then drive the GTM work built on it: positioning, published claims, and sales enablement, so our commercial teams can articulate our differentiation without you in the room.

  • Become our expert on one key industry.Through user and channel partner engagement, site visits, product usage data, and prototype testing, you'll develop industry understanding deep enough to directly shape our roadmap and vertical strategy.

What you'll bring

  • 10+ yearsof product management experience, including end-to-end ownership of a technically complex product or product area.

  • Proven ability to work with engineering teams on hard technical problems — translating complexity into clear product direction and earning credibility with specialists.

  • A track record of evidence-based decisions: user research, product analytics, and market signals shaping what gets built.

  • Demonstrated influence across functions and seniority levels, in writing and in the room.

  • Comfort operating with high autonomy in ambiguous, fast-moving environments.

If you don't tick every box but the problem excites you, we'd still like to hear from you.

Strongly regarded

  • Experience with SLAM, robotics, perception, computer vision, or autonomy.

  • Experience with deep-tech or hardwareproductsand theassociatedmanufacturing and support processes, where decisions span physical and digital domains.

  • Experience in the mining, geospatial, or survey industries.

The Perks

  • 9-day fortnight — every second Friday off.

  • Employee Share Option Plan (ESOP) — share inEmesent'ssuccess.

  • Genuine learning and development opportunities, including LinkedIn Learning.

  • Flexible working arrangements and a casual dress code.

  • Employee Assistance Program andQoctoronline telehealth.

  • A full day of leave each year for your work anniversary.

Emesent is a pioneer in Physical AI – the convergence of artificial intelligence, autonomous robotics, and advanced spatial computing – enabling machines to understand, navigate, and map complex real-world environments without human intervention. Founded in 2018, with deep connections to Australia's globally recognized CSIRO, Emesent provides the means to access spatial intelligence outside of GPS range and beyond line of site, and is designed to operate within the world’s most challenging environments. Building on its initial success within Australia, Emesent now supports clients across 40 countries through direct engagements and a global network of over 50 partners. Emesent’s flagship product, Hovermap, is a mobile scanning unit that combines advanced collision avoidance and autonomous flight technologies to map hazardous and GPS-denied environments. Its award-winning technology utilizes innovative hardware, advanced algorithms, and machine learning to automate collection and analysis of the physical world. Equally capable above ground or underground, indoors or out, Hovermap is a complete mobile LiDAR mapping solution. Dubbed the ‘swiss army knife’ of survey mapping, Hovermap is uniquely versatile: it can be deployed via drone, quadruped robot, vehicle, backpack and a range of other accessories to map challenging, inaccessible areas. Hovermap is currently used within mining, engineering and construction, public safety and defense, and offers applications across a growing range of use cases.
