  • Position Summary:*
  • The Controls & Automation Technician provides technical support for the Savannah factory's electrical, automation, instrumentation, and process control systems.This position is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and improving manufacturing and utility control systems to ensure safe, compliant, and reliable plant operation.The technician serves as a technical resource for PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, instrumentation, industrial networks, and electrical systems while supporting maintenance, production, quality, and engineering teams. The role participates in continuous improvement projects, system upgrades, root cause investigations, and digital transformation initiatives to improve equipment reliability, product quality, and operational performance.
  • Key Responsibilities:*
  • Follow all Nestlé safety, environmental, quality, food safety, and GMP requirements.
  • Adhere to Lockout/Tagout and electrical safe work practices.
  • Support electrical safety audits and machine safety improvements.
  • Support Quality Initiatives and Audits.
  • Maintain accurate change control documentation.
  • Participate in OT cybersecurity and controls lifecycle management activities.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot industrial electrical systems including:
  • Motor controls
  • MCCs
  • Power distribution systems
  • Control panels
  • 24 VDC, 120 VAC, and 480 VAC equipment
  • VFDs and soft starters
  • Interpret electrical schematics and control drawings.
  • Maintain electrical documentation and as-built drawings.
  • Troubleshoot PLC-controlled manufacturing equipment.
  • Support and maintain:
  • Rockwell ControlLogix
  • FactoryTalk applications
  • Rockwell PowerFlex and Kinetix Drives
  • Cognex and Similar Vision systems
  • Perform approved PLC and HMI modifications.
  • Develop and enhance automation strategies to improve reliability and operational efficiency.
  • Install, troubleshoot, and maintain:
  • Pressure transmitters
  • Temperature devices
  • Flow meters
  • Conductivity sensors
  • Level instruments
  • Control valves
  • Pneumatic valves
  • Support calibration programs and documentation.
  • Troubleshoot fieldbus and industrial communication systems.
  • Support industrial Ethernet infrastructure and manufacturing control networks.
  • Support DeviceNet, ASi and Ethernet/IP IO networks.
  • Troubleshoot communication issues between PLCs, HMIs, drives, instrumentation, and MES systems.
  • Support factory digitalization initiatives, data historians, and manufacturing system improvements.
  • Assist with cybersecurity and access control requirements for operational technology systems.
  • Participate in root cause failure analysis and corrective action implementation.
  • Analyze recurring equipment failures and recommend long-term solutions.
  • Support TPM, predictive maintenance, and reliability improvement initiatives.
  • Utilize CMMS systems to document work orders and maintenance history.
  • Assist with capital projects and equipment modernization efforts, including commissioning and vertical start-up of new production assets and capital projects.
  • Experience & Education Requirements:*
  • Associate degree in Electrical Technology, Automation, Mechatronics, Industrial Electronics, or related field; or equivalent industrial experience.
  • 3+ years of industrial electrical, instrumentation, or automation experience.
  • Experience troubleshooting PLC-based systems.
  • Ability to read electrical drawings, P&IDs, and control schematics.
  • Experience in food, pharmaceutical, or regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Experience with:
  • Rockwell Automation platforms
  • FactoryTalk
  • Wonderware/AVEVA
  • Industrial networking
  • SAP PM or other CMMS systems
  • Instrument calibration experience.
  • Advanced troubleshooting skills.
  • PLC, HMI, and VFD diagnostics.
  • Instrumentation and calibration expertise.
  • Strong understanding of industrial networking.
  • Root cause analysis and problem solving.
  • Effective communication and teamwork.
  • Ability to train operators and maintenance technicians.
  • Project support and technical documentation skills.
  • Salary:$54,297.00 to$80,766.00 per year

  • Thepay rangeprovided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to knowledge, skills and abilities as well as geographic location. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at top of range.
