  • Deliver advanced fault finding across PLC, SCADA and DCS systems
  • Take ownership of control systems, including backups, version control and remote access
  • Lead and support site engineers to improve reliability and maintenance standards
  • Carry out expert break-fix and preventative maintenance activities
  • Drive cost efficiency through smart parts sourcing and system optimisation
  • Maintain and update technical documentation, SOPs and change controls
  • Work to high safety standards while supporting a national on-call rota

Our essential requirements.

  • Level 3 qualification in Electrical, Electronic, Controls or Instrumentation Engineering.
  • Strong experience within a 24/7 process or manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in PLC/SCADA interrogation for fault‑finding and optimisation.
  • Ability to travel nationwide, including regular nights away, and support an on‑call rota.
  • Similar roles and backgrounds we would consider (Control Systems Technician, Automation Technician, Electrical Maintenance Technician, Instrumentation Technician, EC&I Technician (Electrical, Control & Instrumentation), PLC Technician / PLC Engineer, Electrical & Controls Engineer, Process Control Technician, SCADA Technician / SCADA Engineer, Industrial Electrician (Controls Bias)).

And here’s why you’ll love it at Biffa.

  • Competitive salary (management grade).
  • 4‑day working week.
  • Ongoing training, coaching and professional development.
  • Generous pension scheme.
  • Retail, leisure, travel and holiday discounts.
