As a Senior Network Autonomy Engineer, you will be part of an engineering team primarily focused on wireless network testing and supporting Caterpillar autonomy customer network design and deployments. You will collaborate with wireless network OEMs including private cellular (LTE & 5G) and Wi-Fi and have a depth of knowledge in radio frequency (RF) planning for mining and quarry operations. This position will be part of a growing site network team striving to enable commercial sales and customer productivity.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with wireless OEMs to evaluate systems for suitability for Cat autonomy and remote-control applications

  • Collaborate with commercial teams and customers to help understand operations and help determine the best wireless strategy for the operation.

  • Develop detailed technical specifications and documentation for connectivity solutions.

  • Conduct feasibility studies and risk assessments to evaluate potential solutions and their impact on existing systems.

  • Participate in design reviews, testing, and validation processes to ensure compliance with requirements.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to connectivity systems and technologies.

  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in cellular and Wi-Fi technologies and connectivity standards.

  • Research new industry connectivity solutions that couldbeleveragedto further enable autonomous construction machines.

What You Will Have:

  • Industry Knowledge: Knowledge of wireless network, trends, directions, major issues, regulatory considerations, and trendsetters; ability to apply industry knowledge appropriately to diverse situations.
  • Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.
  • Technical Troubleshooting: Knowledge of technical troubleshooting approaches, tools and techniques; ability to anticipate, recognize, and resolve technical issues on hardware, software, application or operation.

Consideration For Top Candidates:

  • 8+ years of engineering experience
  • Experience with Cat Command products
  • Knowledge of Cat machine on-board systems
  • Experience with Cisco outdoor wireless configuration and support
  • IP route/switch depth
  • Linux/Ubuntu

Additional Information:

  • This position requires the candidate to work full-time at the Mossville, IL office.

Summary Pay Range:

$112,710.00 - $183,140.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location,job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
