About this Job
QE Solar is seeking a motivated SCADA Engineer with 2–3 years of hands-on experience to join our engineering and operations team. This role will focus on the design, configuration, and support of Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems that monitor and control critical infrastructure. The ideal candidate has experience in industrial control systems, a strong technical foundation, and an eagerness to expand their expertise in automation, security, and system integration.

Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities:
Assist in the development, programming, and deployment of SCADA systems (e.g., Wonderware, Ignition, GE iFIX, OSIsoft PI).
Configure HMIs, dashboards, alarms, and reporting features to support operations.
Develop and maintain communication protocols (Modbus, DNP3, OPC, MQTT, etc.).
Monitor and troubleshoot SCADA and related control system performance.
Implement updates, patches, and system enhancements.
Provide day-to-day support for operators and technicians to ensure high system availability.
Support integration of SCADA with PLCs, RTUs, and field devices.
Work with historians and databases to manage time-series data for reporting and analytics.
Follow cybersecurity best practices for industrial control systems (ICS/OT security).
Assist in implementing compliance requirements (e.g., NERC CIP, NIST 800-53, ISA/IEC 62443 where applicable).
Maintain system documentation including network diagrams, logic descriptions, and operational manuals.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Control Center, IT, operations, and engineering) to deliver system improvements.
Knowledge:
Demonstrated ability to integrate SCADA systems into a renewable energy control center with a variety of asset types and classes
Proven technical/programming skills
Strong experience in creating & managing to a SCADA implementation through a standard project management format
Ignition automation software experience (ideally)
Abilities:
Ability to multi-task and prioritize work in a standardized, scalable manner.
Comfortable working as a team player or independently if necessary
Ability to communicate clearly and succinctly.

Required Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Automation, Industrial Technology, or related field (or equivalent hands-on experience).
Required Experience:
Familiarity with PLC programming (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar).
Knowledge of industrial communication protocols (Modbus, DNP3, OPC-UA, MQTT).
Basic database skills (SQL queries, historians, data visualization).
Awareness of ICS/OT cybersecurity concepts.
Preferred Experience:
Exposure to cloud or edge-based SCADA architectures.
Familiarity with .NET and SQL databases.
Understanding of SCADA software platforms (Ignition, Wonderware, Canary, OSPi, etc.).
OSHA 30
Familiarity with Site Performance Engineering, troubleshooting
Experience with virtualization technologies and Windows/Linux server administration.
Understanding of compliance frameworks (e.g., NERC CIP, NIST, or ISO standards).
Ignition & Ignition HMI Design
Experience with SEL devices
Experience with Utility scale Solar and Battery Storage
