TITLE: Robotics Product Performance Engineering Co-op

DURATION: 6 months minimum

START DATE: Spring/Summer 2026

POSITION SUMMARY: We are seeking a current undergraduate or graduate student for a role as a Product Performance Engineering co-op for our robotics RD team. A Product Performance Engineer works closely with product development teams to evaluate product designs from early feasibility through regulatory clearance and commercialization. Their primary focus is own development of test methods and test systems to evaluate product performance and provide input to product design. The ideal candidate for this position would demonstrate the ability to meet and exceed the below requirements, would show a high level of individual responsibility, and would act with passion and intensity in a fast-paced and collaborative medical device start-up. This position will be a paid co-op during the summer and fall of 2026, approximately 6 months in duration.

ESSENTIAL CANDIDATE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop test methods to evaluate product design performance at a sub-component and full system level.
  • Design test fixtures using SolidWorks, prototype solutions, and write Python code to support testing, automation, and data analysis.
  • Collaborate with design engineering teams to draw meaningful conclusions from test data to guide product design.
  • Author test protocols and reports.
  • Perform analytical calculations and statistical analysis of data.
  • Work well both independently and as part of a fast-moving, collaborative team

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:

  • Current undergraduate or master’s student majoring in Mechanical or Biomedical engineering. Related majors are acceptable. Applicants must be returning to finish their education after the duration of the co-op.
  • Significant hands-on engineering experience.
  • Familiarity with component design using Solidworks and basic rapid prototyping tools.
  • Familiarity working with electromechanical systems and data analysis with Matlab/Python
  • Inventive and balanced with discipline and attention to detail.
  • A demonstrated desire to play an important role in a medical device start-up.
  • Good communication skills and proficiency in technical writing.

Neptune Medical is located in Burlingame, CA, near the Millbrae Caltrain and BART station.

Our job titles may span more than one career level. This is a non-exempt, hourly role and the starting base salary is between $31/hour and $38/hour depending on experience. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: education, training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
