About this Job

About Us

Freshly backed by some of the top VCs in Silicon Valley, Trener is redefining robotics by combining advanced AI for intuitive programming with pre-trained skill models that are experts at industrial tasks. With offices in San Francisco (USA) and Trondheim (Norway), we provide software that gives our users unprecedented ease-of-use and capabilities for their robots, allowing them to think, adapt, and perform complex tasks like any skilled worker.

About the Job

We are seeking a Field-Focused Integration Engineer to join our robotics team and lead the deployment of our robotic systems in real-world industrial environments. You will be responsible for hands-on installation, commissioning, and integration of robotic cells in production facilities, ensuring our systems meet safety standards and customer requirements while delivering exceptional performance.

Responsibilities

  • Lead on-site installation and commissioning of robotic systems in customer facilities

  • Design and implement integration strategies for industrial robotic cells including manipulators, safety systems, and auxiliary equipment

  • Conduct system validation, safety assessments, and performance optimization in production environments

  • Ensure compliance with industrial safety standards and electrical codes

  • Provide hands-on customer support, training, and field troubleshooting services

  • Collaborate with customers to understand production requirements and adapt solutions accordingly

  • Develop deployment documentation, risk assessments, and standard operating procedures

  • Drive continuous improvement of field integration processes and best practices

  • Perform Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) to validate system performance

Requirements

  • Bachelor's in Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field

  • 3+ years of hands-on industrial robotics integration and deployment experience

  • Proven experience integrating robots in real production environments (academic/lab-only experience is not sufficient unless accompanied by significant industrial compliance experience)

  • Experience with 6-DOF robot arms from major manufacturers (ABB, KUKA, Fanuc, Universal Robots, or similar)

  • Strong knowledge of electrical and safety standards (ISO 10218, ANSI/RIA R15.06, NFPA 79, NEC, CE marking)

  • Experience with industrial PLCs, electrical panel design, and control systems

  • Proficiency in CAD software for layout design and integration planning

  • Understanding of motor control, servo systems, and industrial communication protocols

  • Ability to read and create electrical schematics and P&IDs

  • Strong project management skills and ability to manage multiple customer deployments

  • Excellent communication skills and customer-facing experience

  • Willingness to travel frequently to customer sites

What Will Differentiate You

  • Master's degree in relevant engineering discipline

  • Professional certifications in robotics safety, electrical systems, or industrial automation (e.g., Certified Automation Professional, CSP, RIA, OSHA certifications)

  • Experience with specific industry verticals (automotive, manufacturing, electronics, logistics)

  • Knowledge of machine vision integration and CNC machinery

  • Experience with risk assessments and safety circuit design

  • A proactive, self-starting mentality with excellent problem-solving skills and the resilience to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment

What We Offer

  • A unique opportunity to work at the forefront of robotics and AI

  • A central role in a growing startup where your contributions will directly shape our future

  • Competitive salary, employee equity, and bonuses

  • A dynamic and international work environment with offices in the US and Norway

Industrial ManufacturingRobotics Software & AI

Trener Robotics is a Physical AI company building the intelligence layer for industrial robots. Headquartered in San Jose, California and Trondheim, Norway, we transform robots from rigid, scripted machines into intelligent, self-learning systems that operate reliably in real production environments. Our approach replaces traditional point-to-point programming with training rather than hard-coding, enabling greater flexibility and autonomy. At the core of our platform is Acteris, a standard robot operating brain and integration suite that powers a growing library of production-ready skills. Built on foundation models that combine vision, language, and action understanding, Acteris enables intuitive, scalable automation while keeping deployments repeatable through trusted partners. To advance embodied intelligence, we operate T-Labs, our dedicated R&D engine for robotic skill development and validation. Together, Acteris and T-Labs enable software-defined automation that delivers unprecedented adaptability on the factory floor.
