About this Job

The 2027 Summer Internship Program will run from May 17, 2027, through August 6, 2027. Candidates must be available to start on May 17 and participate through the duration of the program.

What Will You Do?

As a Robotics Engineering Intern, you will contribute to the development of next-generation autonomous Toro turf equipment. This role offers hands-on experience working with both the physical machines and the software systems that enable autonomous operation. Early in your internship, you will have the opportunity to identify and focus on areas of robotics that align with your interests and career goals.

Working within a multidisciplinary engineering team, you will help design, develop, test, and improve autonomous capabilities related to navigation, decision-making, perception, and machine control.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop, debug, test, and enhance software for autonomous robotic platforms.

  • Design and implement robotic subsystems for localization, navigation, path planning, perception, and sensor fusion.

  • Improve automation tools, development pipelines, and testing processes to increase efficiency and reliability.

  • Create and maintain remote diagnostics, monitoring tools, and engineering utilities.

  • Collaborate with software, systems, electronics, and mechanical engineers to optimize overall machine performance.

  • Support the integration and validation of new autonomous features on both prototype and production hardware.

  • Gain exposure to the full autonomous machine ecosystem, from onboard sensors and controls to cloud-based applications and fleet management systems.

  • Participate in field testing, data collection, troubleshooting, and performance analysis of autonomous equipment.

  • Document designs, test results, and technical findings to support ongoing product development.

What Do You Need? 

We require interns to be enrolled in an educational program during the duration of the internship program.

  • Majoring in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or similar engineering focus.

  • Completed junior-level courses preferred.

  • Strong desire to learn, collaborate, and effectively communicate in a team setting while achieving a common goal.

  • Ability to stay organized and work independently without much direction.

  • Bonus skills include: AVR/ARM microcontrollers, ROS1/2, C++, Python or similar Scripting Language.

  • Competitive Pay – Competitive compensation with an anticipated hourly rate of $22–$28. Actual rates may vary based on factors such as academic standing, business function, and other relevant considerations.
