About this Job
About Us
At moss.ag, we build robots that scan trees! But at our core, we’re solving a much bigger problem: enabling autonomous farming.
We’re a small team of practical engineers with a long-term vision. We focus on real, messy, on-the-ground problems today, while working toward a future where autonomous farming helps make agriculture more sustainable and accessible.
If our mission aligns with how you like to work and think, we’d love to learn more about you.
The Role
Join us as a key founding engineer. We’re a small, fast-moving team of 5, developing novel perception systems and algorithms to interpret the physical world in challenging, real-world environments.
You’ll own the full robotics system: core algorithms, integration, and deployment. Build sensor fusion + 3D mapping pipelines from LiDAR/cameras/GPS, optimize them for real-time performance, and ship a robust stack that helps us understand farms and enables autonomy in the field.
We move quickly, solve hard problems, and are excited by the reactions we receive from our customers.
We're looking for both full time (in-person) roles and intern candidates for co-ops, summer, and/or part-time roles.
Minimum Requirements
- Impressive real-world projects beyond the classroom (robotics, mapping, autonomy, perception etc.)
- Hands-on experience with 3D sensor data (LiDAR, radar, depth cameras)
- Advanced proficiency in C++ (C++ or Rust is your primary language)
- Excellent debugging skills, from system-level issues to low-level code
- Experience building or integrating device drivers and/or firmware for sensors and embedded systems
- Proficient in Linux (daily driver), including bash, systemd, and networking fundamentals
What You'll Do
- Own the full systems engineering lifecycle (research, design, prototype, production, deployment, iteration)
- Build and improve our 3D mapping pipeline (robust, scalable, production-ready)
- Work closely with the hardware team to rapidly prototype and integrate new sensors and form factors
- Build and evolve our sensor fusion stack combining LiDAR, cameras, GPS, and environmental sensors
- Evaluate and integrate new sensors (e.g., thermal, IR, soil sensors, and more)
- Benchmark and optimize our large-scale processing pipeline for speed and efficiency (parallelization, CUDA acceleration, memory-efficient data structures, and real-time constraints)
- Explore and develop new approaches to autonomy across a range of robot tasks
