We are looking for Research Scientists and Engineers with strong expertise in wearable sensing, micro hand gesture recognition, and health monitoring to join our multidisciplinary research team in Zurich. You will work at the intersection of AI, signal processing, and human–computer interaction, shaping the next generation of intelligent wearable technologies that enable natural, intuitive, and health-aware interaction with devices such as smartwatches, earbuds, and XR glasses.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct cutting-edge research in micro hand gesture recognition using multimodal wearable signals (e.g., IMU, EMG, PPG).
  • Develop innovative algorithms for continuous health monitoring, including motion analysis, stress detection, and physiological state estimation.
  • Design and prototype novel interaction paradigms for wearables that combine gesture sensing with contextual AI.
  • Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams in machine learning, computer vision, and human factors to bring research into product-ready solutions.
  • Publish high-impact research results in top-tier journals and conferences (e.g., UIST, NeurIPS, CVPR, ICRA).

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. or M.Sc. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or related field.
  • Strong background in Machine Learning, Signal Processing, Sensor Fusion, and/or Biomedicine.
  • Experience with wearable sensing systems, including IMU, EMG, PPG, ECG, or other biosignals.
  • Solid understanding of human–computer interaction (HCI) or activity recognition.
  • Proficiency in Python, PyTorch, or embedded ML frameworks.
  • Excellent publication record or demonstrated ability to turn research into impactful prototypes.

Preferred Experience

  • Prior research or product experience in gesture or activity recognition using wearable or near-body sensors.
  • Familiarity with low-power sensing, on-device AI, or edge inference.
  • Experience in health signal analytics (heart rate variability, respiration, sleep, stress).
  • Passion for designing human-centric intelligent systems.
