The role of the Remote Sensing Tech is to acquire data using multiple tools. Using GNSS and conventional surveying equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting the survey department when needed by collecting ground control.
  • Must hold a Pilot Certificate under Title 14 CFR Part 107 or hold a part 61 Pilot Certificate other than student pilot, complete a flight review within the previous 24 months, and complete a small UAS online training course provided by FAA
  • Be in physical and mental condition to safely operate small UAS.
  • Perform flight planning
  • Conduct in field flight missions
  • Execute safety protocols prior to every mission
  • Travel to job sites. Some may require overnight stays
  • Performing routine LiDAR processing and classification work.
  • Using computer assisted design/drafting equipment and software to perform routine mapping.
  • Relying on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform functions of the job.
  • Performing Quality Assurance/Control on processed data
  • Improving project workflow through automation
  • Managing, organizing, and archiving large amounts of data
  • Identify and map planimetry and breaklines
  • Maintain company equipment and instrumentation
  • Troubleshoot instrumentation issues
  • Project coordination

Qualifications

  • Preferred Qualifications:• Equipment experience including: Trimble GPS/GNSS systems, Total Station, and Automatic and Digital Levels• Land Surveying Projects: GPS/GNSS Control Surveys, GPS/GNSS RTK data collection, Route Surveys, Boundary Surveys, Topographic Surveys, Conventional Horizontal and Vertical Control Surveys• Bachelor’s degree in physical/biological/environmental science, engineering or a related field• Knowledge of field and office surveying methods, practices and mathematical procedures for surveying• Part 107 certified• Demonstrated ability to problem solve.• Capable oral and written communication skills.• Basic Microsoft Office Skills.• Must be able to follow directions to support projects timeline and budgets.• Ability to work on several projects simultaneously.Required Skills:• Current CPR and basic First Aid training as required and provided by Quantum Spatial• Adhere to a strict work schedule, complete tasks as assigned both individually and as a team• Ensure safe and secure use of company equipment and instrumentation• Practice good judgment and discretion during travel and at work sites• Effective technical description (communication and documentation) of instrument and/or mission failures• Self-reliant working in remote locations and effectively interact with landowners and/or local authoritiesPhysical Requirements:• Travel/Field work required 75%• Involves driving, walking outdoors, lift equipment weighing < 50lbs, sitting for extended periods of time, traveling in inclement weather and/or un-cleared and rough terrain.

The pay range for this California position is $22.00- $36.00 per hour; however, base pay offered may be higher or lower depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience of the candidate. Full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered. This information is provided per California Senate Bill 1162.
