R&D Team Manager, Optical

The job holder is for China Healthcare R&D Optical Team Manager, who will be responsible:

• To lead a team of Optical engineers in order to deliver Barco Healthcare product/module according to given specification within specified time, according to internal development rules and at the required quality level independently;
• To provide display and related solution for customer’s RFQ (Request for Quotation) with Barco global resource;
• To solve China clients’ Barco healthcare products technical issue;
• To technically evaluate local suppliers.
• To coordinate and manage all supporting functions and communicate all cooperation environment in order to guarantee product development deliverables and maximize the team efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Technical guidance each engineers to finish each project and solve each technical problem.
2. Technical consulting for each customer’s RFQ.
3. Technical evaluating for each supplier.
4. Organizing Technical testing validation for each new project.
5. To ensure that the work is broken down in order to achieve a stable project plan at the end of definition phase.
6. Allocate tasks to team members as per their capability and interest in order to achieve the maximum output from the team members.
7. Follow-up on project progress (master plan), resolve issues and report project health status as defined. Plan and conduct progress meetings including milestone meetings to comply with the PLC process and ensure the required level of transparency
8. Ensure that the team can work efficiently by providing technical guidance, tools and information. Ensure that the team members are working according to the defined policies and processes to deliver the right quality level. Ensure, that the team members understand their tasks and work according to the processes and deliver the results.
9. To evaluate and examine the performance of each team member and reward accordingly
10. Conduct regular team and technical meetings to follow-up on progress and issues. Review task results incl. test plans for completeness and appropriateness
11. Interpret the user requirements and verify the project's result against them. Hence ensure, that the product complies to the specification and is defect free.
12. Coordinate with product management w.r.t. user requirements and scope to resolve issues. Negotiate with product management the project's scope vs. project schedule.
13. Coordinate with parallel teams to achieve overall consistency of the project's results.
14. Propose solutions to any issues (like feasibility, schedule, and quality).
15. Ensure, that any major deviations from the plan get addressed as early as possible and that the respective people get involved to solve the issues.
16. Coordinates expenditures and R&D budget planning

Qualifications:

The successful candidate must possess the following:

Education

• Undergraduate degree – EE or Electronic Communication, Computer Science etc.
• Proficiency skills in both written and spoken English and Mandarin.

Experience

• 5+years of relevant technical experiences in medical display or 8+years TFT-LCD industry relevant technical experience.
• Very Strong technical skill, include hardware, firmware and mechanical design.
• Very familiar with Display scalar solutions, include ST, Realtek, Mstar, FPGA etc.
• Understanding medical display international standard, include DIN, ISO, DICOM, CIE etc.
• Very familiar with medical panel technology and each supplier
• R&D management and Project management experience.
• Understand business value chain. Be familiar with the development and NPI process.
• Good connection and awareness on local and overseas supply chain of relevant industry area.
