Your role and responsibilities

We are looking for an R&D Project Manager at ABB Oy, R60Nordics and Installation Materials Product Line, Smart Buildings division in Porvoo, Finland.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to be part of both new product development projects and product improvement projects in the Wiring Accessories unit, which develops, manufactures and sells wiring accessories and installation materials for residential and commercial buildings.

R&D projects vary in scope and length: some take a few months, some a few years. Projects are often quite technical in nature and the project team you work with consists of experts from different fields. Project team may include only local stakeholders or include colleagues from a few other countries.

Each day, you will facilitate the end-to-end execution of one or more Research and Development projects. You will also showcase your expertise by achieving associated milestones, targets, and desired outcomes.

You will be mainly accountable for:

• Planning and managing project activities, timelines, and deliverables to ensure the project scope is achieved and expected business benefits are realized, while motivating and engaging project team members.
• Coordinating and communicating with key stakeholders, providing clear updates and ensuring timely information flow to support project decisions.
• Proactively identifying and monitoring project risks, preparing risk‑related updates, and collaborating with the team to define and execute mitigation plans.
• Manage projects within Stage‑Gate or similar governance models, ensuring adherence to sound execution practices and ABB’s standard directives and procedures.
• In addition to leading assigned projects, contributing to the development of local project management practices, tools, documentation, and processes.

 Qualifications for the role:

• You have proven experience in project management and willingness to develop the skills further.
• Your way of working is systematic and goal oriented.
• You have B.Sc. or M.Sc. degree in Industrial Engineering and Management, Product development, Project management or other relevant technical or analytical discipline including project management studies.
• You understand customer value, profitability, and business models, and the ability to integrate these into project management.
• You are at ease communicating in Finnish and English.
• You are familiar with electrical installation products and the Nordic business environment.

Wiring Accessories unit in Porvoo develops, manufactures and sells wiring accessories and installation materials for residential and commercial buildings as well as smart home automation for enhancing energy efficiency in buildings.
