What You Will Do:
The Project Manager, Grid Operations, is responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering capital and operational projects that enhance system reliability, increase grid capacity, and support the modernization of the electrical distribution network. This role’s primary focus is managing the ongoing MTS#2 initiative, while also leading other Grid Operations and Modernization projects, including station upgrades, protection and control improvements, SCADA initiatives, grid automation deployments, and other grid intelligence technologies designed to improve resiliency and reduce outage impacts. The Project Manager oversees project scope, schedules, budgets, and risks, working closely with internal teams, external partners, vendors, and consultants. They ensure all projects are executed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with corporate objectives, providing clear communication, thorough documentation, and comprehensive reporting throughout each project lifecycle.
- Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of Grid Operations projects, with a primary focus on the ongoing MTS#2 initiative, as well as other projects including transformer station upgrades, protection & control initiatives, SCADA enhancements, system reliability improvements, and grid automation deployments.
- Develop project scopes, schedules, budgets, and deliverables for MTS#2 and other initiatives, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives and system requirements.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders (Operations, SCADA, Engineering, Planning) to incorporate requirements, constraints, and system impacts into project plans.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for external partners, including Hydro One, IESO, vendors, and consultants, supporting project approvals, technical reviews, and construction readiness.
- Monitor project progress against timelines, budgets, and milestones; prepare regular updates, status reports, and risk assessments for leadership.
- Identify, track, and mitigate project risks, constraints, and interdependencies; escalate issues as needed to maintain schedule and scope.
- Manage project documentation, including schedules, design packages, meeting minutes, commissioning plans, and close-out reports, ensuring accuracy and traceability.
- Coordinate system outages, field work, commissioning activities, and customer impacts in collaboration with Control Room, Operations, and SCADA teams.
- Support capital budget development, cost tracking, and financial reporting for MTS#2, other Grid Operations projects, and station-related initiatives.
- Facilitate stakeholder communication by setting expectations, addressing inquiries, and ensuring timely resolution of project issues.
- Promote continuous improvement by conducting post-project reviews and identifying opportunities to optimize processes, tools, and outcomes.
- Utilize project management tools and standard workflows to manage tasks, record decisions, and maintain transparent reporting as the Project Manager, Grid Operations.
What You Will Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of project management experience in the engineering field, with a demonstrated track record of successful project delivery.
- PMP certification is considered a strong asset.
- Familiarity with capital budgeting and financial tracking is an asset.
- Strong knowledge of project management principles, tools, and techniques.
- Proficient in project management software (i.e. Monday.com, Microsoft Project).
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Valid Class G Driver’s license with a clean driving record.
