The Philadelphia, MS Lumber manufacturing facility is recruiting for a skilled Process Control Systems Technician with a thorough and comprehensive knowledge of electrical equipment, programmable controllers, industrial networks, and computer systems. These skills are required to modify, install, and maintain the facility’s high-tech lumber manufacturing equipment. This position has a pay rate of up to $43.91/hr.
The Process Control System Technician plays a critical role in supporting continuous improvement efforts in safety, cost control, process reliability, and productivity at the Philadelphia, MS Lumber site. This role is responsible for providing technical and programming support for the site’s maintenance and electrical teams. In this role, you will be part of a team who works collaboratively with site leadership to improve manufacturing operations and lead new technology projects.
This is a full-time hourly position. The primary schedule is dayshift, but the role must be flexible in responding to unplanned events and/or working flexible hours across different shifts when required.
Company paid relocation is not available for this position.
Key Functions
As Process Control System Technician, you will:
Perform mid to high level PLC Programming and HMI Development support for existing equipment and new installations
Implement, test, troubleshoot, and improve electronic automation and controls systems in manufacturing processes to increase production, quality, and efficiency
Utilize schematics, equipment documentation and specifications, software, and testing equipment to diagnose and resolve system malfunctions
Provide design input and decision making for new projects to ensure proper electrical and controls system implementation
Work closely with mill leadership to identify the best solutions to resolve equipment problems
Maintain Ethernet Networks across machine and site-wide networks
Work alongside the site IT Specialist to implement IT security updates and patching to critical process control equipment
Must be at least age 18
High school diploma or equivalent
Must have (5) years industrial electrical/process control experience and/or an electrical degree plus equivalent work experience
Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen, background check, & physical
Able to workany shift, weekends, overtime, holidays as needed
Able to work in extreme temperatures, in dusty and noisy conditions, while wearing safety equipment
Demonstrated ability to work in an environment requiring high levels of teamwork
Strong commitment to safety and ability to understand and follow safety procedures
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Able to complete forklift training
Able to lift 2-20 pounds regularly, up to 50 pounds occasionally, climb steps and ladders, work from height, work in small and restricted areas, and stand or walk for 2-3 hours at a time for 10 hours
Experience in troubleshooting electrical systems
Advanced computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
PLC programming experience
Experience with industrial motion control systems
Experience troubleshooting, programming and installing VFD’s and motor controls
Experience with Ethernet networking
Experience with Human Machine Interfaces and displays
Preferred Qualifications:
PLC experience utilizing Allen Bradley Control Logix platform
HMI experience with Allen Bradley Factory Talk platform
Prior experience in the wood products industry
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, or technical diploma in controls & instrumentation or similar field
Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (SAP preferred)
