The Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute at West Virginia University is currently accepting applications for a Post Doctoral Fellow (Robotics) in the Department of Neuroscience.

About the Opportunity

A postdoctoral position in computational neuroscience/robotics/machine learning is available in Dr. Latifis Lab at West Virginia University Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute. We are looking for outstanding candidates interested in employing cutting-edges technologies, ML, and graph theory-based analytics to understand multiscale brain networks dynamics. The postdoctoral associate can work under a specific project as well as general research involving the applications of ML, robotics, or graph theory in evaluating brain functions in specific disorders such as stroke.

What You'll Do

  • Analyzing neuronal data from large scale electrophysiological recording or two-photon microscopy and contributing to developing/modifying analytical pipeline.

  • Developing ML/AI models to decode behavior from extracted neuronal signals.

  • Design robotics structures (in collaboration with other labs in the project).

  • Provide intellectual contribution to other ongoing projects in the lab.

  • PhD in Neuroscience, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, Physics, or related quantitative disciplines.

  • A minimum of 0-6 months experience in the following:

    • Analyzing high-dimensional data using MATLAB or Python.
  • All qualifications must be met by the time of employment.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong quantitative and programming skills.
  • Experience with two-photon microscopy and/or EEG.
  • Candidates from other quantitative disciplines should be willing to work with animal models and perform experiments.
