Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Paint Seibi Technician to support automated robotic paint processes within a high-volume automotive manufacturing environment.
This is a hands-on technical position focused on robot programming, paint-process setup, equipment trials, process optimization, troubleshooting, and quality evaluation. The ideal candidate will have experience working with industrial robots and automated paint applications and will be comfortable supporting equipment directly on the manufacturing floor.
Key Responsibilities
Perform online robot programming for automated paint applications.
Program and optimize robotic processes for primer, base coat, and clear coat.
Support robotic sealer, underbody coating (UBC), and dampening applications.
Conduct equipment and process trials and adjust operating parameters.
Troubleshoot robotic paint processes and production equipment.
Perform offline robot programming using simulation software.
Conduct robot reach studies and cycle-time analysis.
Evaluate paint quality against engineering drawings and established standards.
Use quality measurement equipment such as Elcometer, Wave-Scan, and X-Rite.
Support equipment setup, process validation, production preparation, and launch activities.
Develop process handover documentation for manufacturing teams.
Work with engineering, production, quality, and maintenance teams to resolve technical issues.
Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost reductions.
Required Qualifications
Associate degree, two-year technical degree, or equivalent relevant work experience.
2+ years of technical experience in manufacturing, automation, robotics, paint processes, or a related field.
Experience working with industrial robotic systems.
Strong mechanical and technical troubleshooting abilities.
Ability to analyze manufacturing problems and develop effective solutions.
Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
Ability to work overtime as required.
Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 50%.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with automated robotic paint-shop applications.
Online and/or offline robot programming experience.
Automotive primer, base coat, clear coat, sealer, UBC, or dampening experience.
PLC programming experience with Toyopuc, Allen-Bradley, Omron, or similar systems.
Experience with digital engineering software such as CATIA, DELMIA, SolidWorks, or Inventor.
Automotive manufacturing or new-model launch experience.
Experience with paint-quality measurement and analysis.
Additional technical or automation certifications.
Bachelor's degree in a related technical field.
Travel & Work Environment
This position requires up to 50% travel, primarily to manufacturing facilities in Alabama and Mississippi, with potential international travel to Canada and Mexico.
The position is primarily performed in an automotive manufacturing environment and may involve hands-on equipment and process work. Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) is required.
