This position is part of the Maintenance Team, which is part of the Site Engineering team, which is the asset-management team consisting of Automation, Engineering, and Maintenance for clinical labs, GxP warehouse operations, cell banking, and other GxP labs in Springhouse and Malvern, PA.

Maintenance is responsible for maintaining the reliability of manufacturing assets and utilities through preventive, corrective and calibration workorders, and parts storeroom management.

The primary work location is in Springhouse, PA, supporting the Car-T clinical lab project, future operation, and asset-management. This is a multi-site role, that includes Malvern and Springhouse. Upon hire, this role will report to the Site Engineering Lead, with a focus on starting up the existing Car-T lab and supporting the project. Then, this role will transition to report to the Springhouse Automation Team Lead.

For the first year of this assignment, travel up to 25% of the time may be necessary to support FATs, OEM site visits, or other project requirements. After the project, travel of up to 5% may be needed.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

POSITION OBJECTIVES

Multi Skilled Technician ensures compliant, accurate, and timely completion of preventive, corrective, emergency maintenance and project support of Johnson & Johnson’s clinical manufacturing, R&D lab operations, utilities and facilities equipment. Ensure that all work is completed in a safe and cost-effective manner, in compliance with Company Policies, EHS guidelines and GMP’s (Good Manufacturing Practices)

POSITION SUMMARY:

Maintenance:

  • Service, repair and/or OEM coordination for robot diagnosis, repair, reassembly, test calibration,
  • Calibration and repair of instrumentation used in clinical manufacturing and R&D lab systems. Maintain all calibration standards. Investigate, troubleshoot, and repair equipment, VFDs, instruments and instrumentation systems as assigned. Install and repair sensors, transmitters, actuators, and other electrical and instrumentation components. Maintain Equipment: Perform routine maintenance, testing, and calibration of equipment to keep automated processes running smoothly.
  • Diagnose and resolve problems in mechanical and electrical systems, and instruments to ensure proper operation.
  • Respond to Urgent Issues: Address emergency calls and remediate problems as they arise.
  • Part of an on-call rotation for Springhouse labs

Projects:

  • Support project teams as the asset owner of the maintenance systems, including development of the SAP Master Data and Storeroom program. Ensure projects and tasks stay on target through accurate resourcing and removing obstacles, which may involve communication at a senior level within the business.
  • Interact with all stakeholders (project team, OEMs, maintenance technicians, automation engineers, lab operations, QA, QC) to identify new master data, changes to existing master data.
  • Work with multifunctional teams of OEM vendors and service providers, operations, maintenance, engineering, quality and validation.

Equipment:

  • Assets include mechanical, instrumentation, electrical and lab equipment, including robots, calibrated devices, cryo systems, vial fillers, freezers, incubators, hoods, bio safety cabinets, isolators, camera systems, labelling, QR coding, tube sealers and welders, analytical lab equipment, waste decontamination system, conveying systems, autoclaves, washers, centrifuge (this is not all-inclusive)

Minimum Qualification

  • Required: At least 10 years hands-on multi-craft maintenance technician experience in at least 3 of these: mechanical, instrumentation, electrical and robotics

  • Required: At least 5 years of experience in pharmaceutical/biotech manufacturing or lab equipment and systems, with solid experience in GxPs, FDA regulations, SAP

  • Required: Ability to read and interpret documents such as P&IDs, electrical schematics, SOP’s, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.

  • Required: Influencing skills, partnering and collaboration skills, analytical skills and excellent oral and written presentation skills are required, with a demonstrated ability to work across organizational boundaries.

  • Required: Working knowledge of equipment including, but not limited to PLC control systems and HMI’s

  • Preferred: excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.

  • Preferred: Advanced knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (SAP preferred) and best practices
