  • Help develop and update standard work, work instructions, and process documentation
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities such as 5S, kaizen events, and root cause analysis
  • Collaborate with production, maintenance, quality, and engineering teams to support cross-functional initiatives
  • Complete a site-specific engineering project and formally present results and recommendations to Division leadership

Expected Learnings

  • Fundamentals of high-speed metal stamping and connector plate manufacturing
  • Exposure to progressive dies, press operations, electrical systems, controls, PLC-driven equipment, Fanuc robotics and material handling systems
  • Understanding of manufacturing workflows, constraints, and real-world production challenges
  • Application of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement principles in a plant environment
  • Experience executing an engineering project from problem definition through analysis, implementation, and leadership presentation

Job Competencies

  • Problem Solving: Ability to approach manufacturing problems methodically and propose practical solutions
  • Curiosity & Learning Orientation: Actively seeks to understand processes, equipment, and root causes
  • Attention to Detail: Demonstrates care and accuracy when working with data, documentation, and processes
  • Drive to Excel: Takes initiative, follows through on tasks, and strives for measurable results
  • Team Collaboration & Communication: Works effectively with operators, technicians, and engineers; communicates clearly verbally and in writing
  • Adaptability: Comfortable working in a fast-paced, hands-on manufacturing environment with changing priorities

Qualifications

  • Rising Junior or Senior pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field from an accredited institution
  • Strong interest in manufacturing, automation, and industrial processes
  • Basic understanding of engineering principles related to mechanics, materials, electrical systems, or manufacturing processes
  • Exposure to controls, PLCs, sensors, or industrial automation is a plus
  • Proficiency with Software such as AutoCAD and Microsoft Office tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and PowerBI)
  • Ability to learn quickly, work independently with guidance, and manage multiple tasks
  • Willingness to spend time on the manufacturing floor in an industrial environment

Work Environment & Physical Demands

  • Manufacturing plant environment with exposure to production equipment, noise, and moving machinery
  • Combination of office-based work and time spent on the shop floor
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and observe processes for extended periods as required

This internship is an excellent opportunity for students interested in pursuing a career in manufacturing, operations, or plant leadership and gaining hands-on experience in a high-impact production environment.
