About the role
We are currently recruiting for a Maintenance Technician to the join the team at our Hartlepool site.
The focus of this role is maintaining the equipment and systems within the plant, performing emergency response support to operations for all equipment issues, minimising downtime and waste.
You will also carry out planned maintenance tasks to prevent failures of equipment during operation and bring forward improved maintenance suggestions and/or improvement initiatives to increase reliability of equipment and where possible to increase availability, improve quality and/or efficiency while at all-times ensuring safety systems are maintained or improved.
This is a shift-based role operating across 12-hour day and night shifts, on a 3-on, 3-off basis.

What you'll be doing
- Ensuring all works undertaken during maintenance activities performed do not breach the appropriate health and safety standards and where necessary will assist others and/or report safety breeches.
- Responsible for ensuring an up-to-date knowledge of Kerry policies, regional, national and local legislative requirements necessary in performing the tasks associated with the role of maintenance engineer.
- Participating in process and equipment risk assessments and HACCP studies as necessary
- Lead or assist in the troubleshooting, repairs and maintenance of electro-mechanical food manufacturing equipment or processes containing pneumatic, hydraulic, instrumentation, PLC and/or SCADA systems
- Lead or assist in the troubleshooting, repairs and maintenance of facilities plant and services, including but not limited to compressed air, refrigeration and steam.
- Being observant & work off your own initiative when a fault is detected & to take decisive action to effect immediate repair or seek further assistance or support.
- Providing recommendations for improvement to the maintenance plans and/or equipment to eliminate downtime and waste, improving overall plant efficiency.
- Work with equipment suppliers or contractors on new equipment and installations and modifications as requested.
- Update the maintenance management system (SAP PM or other), record all works performed, stores transactions made and all changes/modifications made to equipment/systems.
- Carry out the work schedule issued each week, completing the work as prioritised to confirmation within the CMMS system.
- Where necessary support the planner/scheduler in specifying job plans for efficient execution.
- Maintain and report updates and changes to process control and /or documentation including drawings, programs, I/O lists, and databases. All changes to be logs such changes in the CMMS.
- Participate in process and equipment risk assessments when requested to optimise engineering design, hygienic design, personnel safety, environmental and quality compliance.
What you can bring to the role
- Trade or degree qualified - Electrical with Multi-skilled/cross-skilled capability to include mechanical.
- Strong diagnostic/trouble-shooting experience gained in a high volume manufacturing or process environment.
- Strong knowledge & experience of manufacturing electro/mechanical automated equipment & processes including pneumatic, hydraulic and instrumentation-controlled systems.
- Demonstrate capability on trouble shooting electrical & instrumentation systems safely.
- Planned maintenance knowledge & understanding.
- LV systems, direct Drives, inverter drives, soft starts, instrumentation, PLC/automated systems mechanical & fluid drive processes and systems and lubrication systems.
- Experience in reading & interpreting drawings
- Excellent organisation skills
