About this Job

About the role

Alva is strengthening our FiberPrinting™ engineering team - the group responsible for designing, building, testing, commissioning, and continuously improving our FiberPrinters: advanced, custom-built machines that produce the stators used in Alva motors.

FiberPrinting™ is Alva’s own manufacturing technology, and it’s not something you’re expected to have prior experience with. It’s the core technology that enables Alva to manufacture the world’s thinnest electric motors.

As demand for our motors grows, we need to scale our ability to turn engineering ideas into working solutions on the production floor. We are therefore looking for a hands-on technician who will be part of the engineering team, while spending most of their time in the production hall.

You'll be building machines, wiring control cabinets, executing experiments, commissioning new stator designs, and resolving issues directly where they occur: in production.

What you’ll be doing

Think of this as our wish-list. The role will be shaped around your strengths.

  • Build, assemble, wire, and commission new production machines and upgrades

  • Execute experiments and test new concepts developed by the engineering team

  • Troubleshoot issues in the production line and help identify root causes

  • Perform hands-on tweaking and testing during commissioning of new designs and processes

  • Adjust machine parameters and settings during testing, commissioning, and production ramp-up

  • Design and build jigs, fixtures, racks, and simple tooling to support production and engineering work

  • Support continuous improvement of machines and production processes

Who we’re looking for

  • Skilled with their hands and a practical mindset

  • Comfortable building, modifying, and troubleshooting machines

  • Experience in machine building

  • Experience working with any kind of machinery. Production equipment, CNC machines, 3D-printers, vehicles, etc.

  • Able to take ownership of practical tasks and follow engineering concepts through to reality

  • Comfortable working independently, but also collaborating closely with others

  • Able to work on-site in Trondheim

  • Comfortable with English as a working language

Bonus:

  • Engineering or technical education

  • Automation or mechatronics experience

  • Manufacturing or production engineering experience

  • Servo systems or motion control knowledge

  • PLC programming knowledge

  • Experience with machine vision

  • Experience with weaving or other textile-related processes

What we offer

  • A hands-on role as part of the engineering team, close to real machines and real problems

  • The opportunity to take ownership of practical execution, experiments, and commissioning

  • A working environment where you can learn fast and develop yourself as a problem-solver

  • A key role in scaling and improving Alva’s FiberPrinting manufacturing platform

  • A collaborative, international work environment (~20 nationalities, ~50 people)

  • All engineering, manufacturing, and assembly under one roof in Trondheim

How to apply

Submit a short application describing why you’re a good match for the role. If you have any hands-on projects, personal builds, or other practical experience, feel free to include that as well.

Applications are reviewed continuously.
