Work Location: Perth – Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk Noongar people

Roster: Monday to Friday

The Lead Software Engineer (C#/.NET) is responsible for defining, governing and advancing best practice across the C#/.NET technology stack. This role combines deep hands-on engineering expertise with technical leadership to ensure the delivery of high performance, scalable and maintainable software solutions.

Working with a team of other domain experts, the Lead Software Engineer will work closely with Solution Architects, Software Architects and Developers to deliver and improve features. They will embed themselves into software development team activities to ensure governance over the work produced.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely with Software Architects, Development teams, Verification teams, and other domain experts to ensure that detailed designs are implemented to a consistently high standard, aligned with architectural principles and engineering best practice
  • Define, develop and maintain reusable software patterns, shared libraries and engineering standards to improve quality, consistency and maintainability
  • Provide deep technical expertise to resolve complex challenges, including performance optimisation, concurrency, scalability, integration complexity and production incidents
  • Mentor and coach engineers across the organisation and promoting a culture of engineering excellence
  • Contribute to technical strategy, technology selection and architectural decision making.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, related field, or equivalent industry experience
  • 7+ years of experience in software development with at least 3 years focused heavily on C# and .NET related technologies
  • Strong experience with architectural principles
  • Experience working within distributed systems, service-oriented or microservices-based architectures
  • Ability to build trusted relationships with diverse stakeholders
  • Ability to solve complex problems by collaborating with other experts
  • Demonstrated passion for learning and staying current with evolving technology.
