Thishigh visibility opportunityis for anengineerwithexperience inadvancedautomation systemsfor product manufacturing.In this position,you willhelp set technicalstrategiesand architectural standards forproduct line automation.You willlead thedeployment ofautomatedsystemsthatwill be usedto improvemanufacturingprocesses and enable digital connectivity throughoutmanufacturingoperations.Day-to-day activities includeidentifying,defining,and scopingautomationprojectsformanufacturing operations,project planning,managingprojectfinances,leadingand mentoringteam members,developing solutions in a lab environment, physically deploying the project into production,and promotingthe project’sadoptionwithin production.

The ideal candidate will have adeepbackground inautomation, controls, and SCADA/MES, with a proventrack recordinproject execution.Youshould alsohave experience withmanufacturing system designand implementation.Proven leadership skillsthat support effectiveproject management,communicationand mentoringare foundational for success in this position.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Applyautomation engineeringknowledge and coordinate with other organizations to improvemanufacturing operations.

  • Ownall phases of project execution from concept development through deploymentand adoption.

  • Providetechnical guidanceon development of complex automation architectures.

  • Conduct comprehensive safety risk assessments and implement layered safety controls.

  • Plan, prioritize, and managemultipleautomationprojects.

  • Leadcross functional teams to ensure effective deployment to live production.

  • Prioritize tasks to ensure that the team’s overall resources are used effectively and that deadlines are met.

  • Maintaincurrent knowledge of Industry 4.0 technologies and developsrelated project proposals.

  • Provideexpert level guidanceforhands-onprogramming of automatedcontrol systemsand robotsas projects require.

  • Mentorengineers within the team or within operations on howto develop andmaintainautomated manufacturing systems.

  • Effectively communicateswith operations, management,and technical leadershipon proposals and active projects.

QUALIFICATIONSYOU MUST HAVE

  • Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 10 years prior relevant experienceoran Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experienceorin absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience.

  • 5+ years of project management experience in a manufacturing environment.

  • Experience in industrial robotics; trained in at least one major robot brand.

QUALIFICATIONSWE PREFER

  • Experience with PLCs, SCADA, MES,andIIOT

  • Experience withelectronics manufacturing processes

  • Backgroundin Low Volume, High Mix aerospace manufacturing

  • Ability to work acrossthe organization vertically and horizontally

  • Possesses business acumen and the ability to manage project budgets

  • Strong verbal and communications skills

The salary range for this role is 132,400 USD - 251,600 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays.
