About PROPHESEE

Prophesee is a pioneer in neuromorphic vision systems. Our event-based vision technology enables machines to perceive the world with extremely low latency, high dynamic range, and reduced data bandwidth compared to traditional frame-based cameras.

As part of our next development phase, we are exploring how event-based vision can be combined with other sensing modalities to build robust, real-time perception systems for robotics and intelligent machines.

This 6 months minimum internship is based in Paris (75011), in the Software & AI Team - start date tbd**.**

Internship topic

Multimodal Perception and Sensor Fusion for Robotics Applications

This internship will explore how additional sensors such as IMUs, Time-of-Flight sensors, depth cameras, and other complementary sensing technologies can be integrated with event-based vision to improve perception capabilities.

The goal is to investigate, prototype, and evaluate multimodal perception pipelines for robotics use cases, with a focus on topics such as sensor fusion, depth estimation, motion estimation, motion compensation, SLAM, and real-time perception on Linux-based embedded platforms.

Main Responsibilities:

The intern will contribute to the following activities:

  • Study and benchmark different sensor combinations for robotics perception.

  • Integrate sensors such as event cameras, IMUs, ToF sensors, or depth sensors on a Linux-based platform.

  • Develop software components for sensor acquisition, synchronization, calibration, and data logging.

  • Prototype perception algorithms combining event-based data with other modalities.

  • Explore use cases related to Motion compensation, SLAM, depth estimation, motion estimation, object perception, or scene understanding.

  • Evaluate performance in terms of latency, robustness, accuracy, and integration complexity.

  • Document the developed prototypes, results, and technical recommendations.

Expected Profile

We are looking for a final-year engineering student or master’s student with a strong interest in robotics, perception, and embedded systems.

The ideal candidate has:

  • Background in robotics, computer vision, embedded systems, or AI perception.

  • Interest in SLAM, sensor fusion, depth estimation, visual-inertial odometry, or 3D perception.

  • Good programming skills in C++ and/or Python.

  • Experience working with Linux environments.

  • Basic knowledge of sensor communication and integration, such as USB, MIPI, Ethernet, serial interfaces, ROS, GStreamer, or similar tools.

  • Familiarity with cameras, IMUs, depth sensors, ToF sensors, or LiDAR is a plus.

  • Interest in real-time systems and embedded platforms.

Mindset

Beyond technical skills, we are looking for someone with a strong maker mindset: curious, hands-on, autonomous, and proactive.

The candidate should enjoy experimenting with hardware and software, building prototypes, debugging real systems, and transforming ideas into working demonstrations.

We value people who are not afraid to explore, test, fail, improve, and propose new ideas.

What You Will Learn

During this internship, the candidate will gain experience in:

  • Event-based vision and neuromorphic perception.

  • Multimodal sensor integration.

  • Real-time robotics perception pipelines.

  • Sensor synchronization and calibration.

  • Embedded Linux development.

  • Practical robotics-oriented software prototyping.

  • Working in a deep-tech environment at the intersection of sensors, software, AI, and robotics.
