Your role Key responsibilities in your new role
- **Scope:**Work at the interface between Infineon Villach and the University of Klagenfurt on audio signal processing for tactile sensing in robotics using a 2‑finger or 3‑finger gripper
- **Development:**Collaborate with experts at a global semiconductor company and a leading Micro‑Electro‑Mechanical Systems (MEMS) microphone supplier to develop and characterize next‑generation audio technologies
- Sensor Fusion: Combine audio and pressure measurements to infer grasp quality and perform material recognition
- Validation: Evaluate algorithms in simulation and on a real robot gripper, analyze data, report results and present findings regularly
- **Tooling:**Implement data processing, visualization and machine learning using Python and MATLAB
- **Innovation:**Contribute to novel sensing concepts and next‑generation microphone solutions for robotics applications
Thesis Option: Start as an internship with potential extension to a master thesis

Type of employment: Temporary / Part-time or Full-time (flexible working hours from Monday to Friday between 6 a.m. and 7 p.m.)
Duration: min. 6 months
Your profile Qualifications and skills to help you succeed
- Education: Motivated and committed master student (f/m/div) in Robotics, Electronics or Electrical Engineering with a focus on Audio Engineering, Sensor Signal Processing or similar
- Technical Knowledge: Background in acoustics, signal processing and machine learning
- **Programming:**Proficient in C, C plus plus (C/C++), Python or MATLAB required
- **Frameworks:**Familiarity with Robot Operating System 2 (ROS2) preferred
- Language Skills: Very good English skills

This position is subject to the collective agreement for workers and employees in the electrical and electronics industry (full-time), employment group D for master students (https://www.feei.at/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/minimum-salaries-white-collar-workers-2026-05-01.pdf).
