About this Job
Committed to serving global societal needs. ASTM International positively impacts public health and safety, consumer confidence, and overall quality of life. We integrate consensus standards - developed with our international membership of volunteer technical experts - and innovative services to improve lives... Helping our world work better.
Role Description:
Seeking a highly motivated intern to support the development of a comprehensive training course roadmap and a business plan for delivering new exo- and robotics-education products. This role sits at the intersection of robotics, workforce development, marketing strategy, and standards, giving the intern hands-on experience shaping one of the fastest-growing segments of ASTMs global portfolio. The ideal candidate is curious, organized, an excellent communicator, and eager to work in a collaborative environment where technical concepts must be translated into clear, engaging learning pathways and actionable business strategies.
Learning Objectives:
This internship focuses on three integrated areas: training product strategy and design, business model development, and research and communication. Interns will learn how technical standards shape robotics deployment and workforce needs, conduct a gap analysis of existing robotics training offerings across industry, academia, and government, and help develop a structured training roadmap aligned with ASTM F45 focus areas such as applications, safety, interoperability, humanoids, and mobile robots. They will also build skills in developing scalable business plans for training programs, including pricing tiers, value propositions, revenue models, and customer segmentation, while using basic analytics to estimate demand, impact, and ROI. Finally, interns will strengthen cross-functional abilities by collaborating with standards professionals, engineers, and marketing teams; improving written communication by translating technical insights into clear training materials and stakeholder-ready documents; and presenting findings to internal leadership while refining recommendations based on feedback.
General Responsibilities:
This role centers on research, analysis, and strategic development to support ASTMs expanding robotics training ecosystem. Interns will benchmark robotics training programs across universities, standards bodies, industry associations, and commercial providers, while identifying key competency gaps in the current robotics workforce that ASTM training could address. They will gather insights from ASTM committees, external partners, and member companies to ensure course offerings align with emerging industry needs. Building on this research, interns will help draft a multi-module roadmap for ASTMs robotics training portfoliofrom introductory foundations to advanced, standards-focused modules. This includes supporting the creation of course outlines, learning outcomes, and delivery formats such as self-paced e-learning, instructor-led sessions, or hybrid models, and working with subject-matter experts to validate technical relevance.
In parallel, interns will contribute to business planning and marketing alignment by assisting with market sizing, audience segmentation, pricing structures, and rollout timelines, as well as informing go-to-market positioning, messaging, and partnership opportunities. They may also use available analytics tools to visualize projected demand and track performance metrics. Finally, the role involves practical project management responsibilities, including tracking milestones, maintaining organized documentation, preparing materials for leadership briefings, and supporting coordination across Marketing, Learning & Development, Sales, and F45 committee leadership to ensure smooth execution of the training roadmap.
Education:
Must be enrolled in a related Bachelors degree program as a rising Junior or Senior at an accredited College or University.
Key Requirements & Competencies:

- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word)
