About This Job:
Q-Sourcing Limited trading as Q-Sourcing Servtec is a manpower management solutions firm operating in the East African Region in the countries of Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, and South Sudan.
On behalf of our client SINOPEC, we are looking for a competent**,** skilled, and experienced Instrument technician to work on site.
Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities of this position include:
· Install, configure, and integrate instruments such as pressure transmitters, temperature sensors, flow meters, level switches, and control valves.
· Ensure proper wiring, tubing, and communication (e.g., 4–20 mA signals, HART, Foundation Fieldbus) between instruments and control systems.
· Perform pre-commissioning checks and calibrate instruments to meet manufacturer specifications and industry standards (e.g., ISA, ANSI, IEC).
· Verify accuracy using tools like multi meters, pressure calibrators, and signal generators.
· Test instrument loops (e.g., input/output verification) to ensure signals are correctly transmitted to control systems (PLCs, DCS, ICSS).
· Simulate process conditions (e.g., pressure, temperature) to validate system responses.
· Diagnose and resolve issues with instrumentation, wiring, communication protocols, or control logic.
· Collaborate with engineers to adjust setpoints, ranges, or control strategies.
· Maintain records of calibration certificates, test results, as-built drawings, and loop diagrams.
Requirements
Qualifications/Experience required:
· Minimum of 5 years of experience in Oil & gas (upstream, midstream, downstream), Power plants (nuclear, thermal, renewable), or other similar projects.
· Proficiency with instrumentation (e.g., pressure, temperature, level, flow).
· Understanding of control systems (PLC, DCS, ICSS) and communication protocols (Modbus, Profibus).
· Experience with calibration tools, multi meters, oscilloscopes, and software like AMS Valve Link.
· Attention to detail, problem-solving, teamwork, and communication.
· Other Certifications will be a plus.
